Every Day the Villain Continues to Fail
[Quick Transmigration]
The situation turned around so quickly that Ruan Yao was stunned.
One second he was worried that the protagonist Chu Lingyi might accidentally get himself killed, and the next, it was Wen Siyan who ended up on the ground.
Damn, when did Lin Xuan arrive?
Ruan Yao was confused.
But he came just in time. If something happened to Chu Lingyi, even a hundred of him wouldn't be enough to make up for it.
Chu Lingyi and Ruan Yao were so close that he suddenly felt the person behind him let out a long breath. It was the posture of someone completely relaxing after seeing a savior.
The boy's hands, which had been restraining Ruan Yao's legs, suddenly tightened.
Ruan Yao's legs looked slender, but when touched, they felt soft and smooth. Chu Lingyi slightly increased his grip, leaving a visible red mark on Ruan Yao's calf.
Ruan Yao felt a bit uncomfortable and lightly kicked Chu Lingyi's leg with his toes.
Even though he was supposedly poisoned, this carefree guy acted as if nothing was wrong, focusing on sliding his toes from Chu Lingyi's calf up to his lean, firm thigh.
Chu Lingyi's voice suddenly turned a bit hoarse, "Stop messing around."
Ruan Yao softly complained, "You're hurting me." In such a tense moment, Ruan Yao deliberately lowered his already soft voice for fear of being overheard, making Chu Lingyi feel an odd ticklish sensation in his heart.
It was like a feather teasingly brushing against his heart.
Lin Xuan, holding the antidote, impatiently lifted Wen Siyan's upper body like trash and searched his suit pocket for a key.
He glanced at the pink heart-shaped key in his hand and clicked his tongue. Then he grabbed Wen Siyan's head again and sneered, "Hey! Not touching someone else's wife is basic manners, right, teacher?"
He elongated the last word. Wen Siyan tried to say something, moving his lips, but Lin Xuan suddenly punched him hard in the face.
The punch was so forceful that Wen Siyan's gold-rimmed glasses flew off.
His pale, refined face swelled with a large bruise, and his lips were split and bleeding. He coughed harshly, spitting out a small pool of sticky blood.
Lin Xuan didn't spare him another glance and tossed Wen Siyan back onto the ground like a dead dog before striding toward Chu Lingyi and Ruan Yao.
He first unlocked Ruan Yao's handcuffs, then glanced at Chu Lingyi's bruised face and let out a mocking laugh.
Chu Lingyi's icy gaze was terrifying as he moved his lips, asking, "What are you doing?"
Lin Xuan never cared about others' opinions. He directly shoved Chu Lingyi aside and scooped Ruan Yao into his arms.
Ruan Yao was so light, like holding a petal.
But unlike flowers that wither, Ruan Yao wouldn't.
Now that his hands and feet were free, being carried felt embarrassing. Ruan Yao blushed and wriggled slightly, whispering, "I can walk on my own."
After all this poisoning and kidnapping, Ruan Yao felt like the unluckiest supporting character ever.
But Lin Xuan only held him tighter. The feeling of regaining something lost was one no one else could understand at this moment.
"Yao Yao, I'm sorry." He lowered his head, staring earnestly into Ruan Yao's eyes. "I failed to protect you."
Lin Xuan naturally had a pair of charming peach blossom eyes. If he wanted to be seductive, even an iceberg would melt.
Ruan Yao blinked slowly, his amber irises glimmering like a clear, golden lake under the setting sun.
Innocence and subtle desire mixed in his gaze.
Ruan Yao seriously shook his head, "It was my own carelessness, it has nothing to do with you."
Honestly, he couldn't understand why Lin Xuan and Chu Lingyi insisted on blaming themselves for him being caught by Wen Siyan.
If anything, Ruan Yao thought gloomily, it was because he trusted humans too easily.
Lin Xuan seemed mesmerized by those shimmering, innocent eyes. His face leaned closer, his hair brushing softly against Ruan Yao's smooth forehead, nearly kissing the boy's soft pink lips.
Ruan Yao blinked in surprise, but Chu Lingyi reacted first.
"Ruan Yao still has that pervert's poison in him. Who knows when it'll act up? Can't you give him the antidote first?" Chu Lingyi, fed up, pulled Ruan Yao behind him. As expected, this beast only had dirty thoughts and didn't care about Ruan Yao's health.
Scumbag.
Lin Xuan snapped back to reality, coughed awkwardly, and raised the syringe. "Let's find a doctor now."
"Now? Isn't it a bit too late?" A fragmented voice drifted from the shadows, chilling everyone.
Ruan Yao's face paled.
Damn, that psycho could still move.
At some point, Wen Siyan had slowly stood up, hiding behind a plastic barrel, casually wiping the blood off his lips with pale fingers.
He glanced at the blood on his fingers and slowly smiled wider, as if something dark had been triggered.
Ruan Yao was reminded of horror movies about sinister clowns. That exaggerated grin alone was terrifying.
Wen Siyan's throat emitted a creaky laugh, like a broken old bellows, chilling to the bone.
No one dared approach him, wary of whatever twisted tricks he had next.
Still laughing, Wen Siyan cheerfully said, "Actually, I think it’d be nice if we all went together."
He gave the plastic barrel a shove, tipping it over.
A pungent smell instantly filled the air.
Ruan Yao's heart sank. This scent was disturbingly familiar.
As a spirit, he was sensitive to smells, especially dangerous ones.
Gasoline.
Panic gripped him. How could they escape if the place caught fire?
"We can't let him light it!" Ruan Yao panicked, wanting to stop Wen Siyan.
But it was too late.
Wen Siyan's distorted smile glowed in the lighter's flame.
His glasses were gone, but his gaze still seemed to pierce Ruan Yao's soul. "Too late, Yao Yao."
He sighed contentedly and tossed the lighter to the floor.
The fire erupted instantly, like a ravenous demon crawling from hell. It first consumed the curtains and then spread uncontrollably throughout the cluttered, sealed storage room.
In such a cramped, junk-filled space, it only took a blink for the fire to engulf everything.
"Run!" Lin Xuan cursed. Wen Siyan truly was insane. If they didn’t escape now, they'd all burn to death here.
This was still the innermost room of the gymnasium. If the fire got out of control, the entire gym would be engulfed in flames.
Lin Xuan grabbed Ruan Yao with one hand and forcefully slammed open the equipment room door.
The old, poorly maintained wooden door let out a loud crash.
"Do you really think you can escape?" Wen Siyan tilted his head, leisurely walking through the raging sea of flames.
The fire scorched his skin, yet the man seemed completely unfazed.
His smile remained unchanged. "I told you, even if I go to hell, I'll drag Yao Yao with me."
Ruan Yao couldn't let this man kill the protagonist. He knew Wen Siyan's ultimate target was him. Without a moment of hesitation, Ruan Yao let go of Lin Xuan's hand.
"Lin Xuan, you and Chu Lingyi go first." Ruan Yao lowered his eyes, the delicate curve of his lips forming a faint, beautiful arc. Looking at Wen Siyan, he spoke to Lin Xuan and Chu Lingyi, "There are still others in the gym. You two go and tell them to get out quickly."
He couldn't let more people die because of his own issues.
"Yao Yao, he'll kill you!" Lin Xuan lost control, reaching out to grab Ruan Yao, but Wen Siyan lunged forward, his burning hand seizing Ruan Yao's.
"You're still mine."
He gently pulled Ruan Yao into his embrace.
The heat was so intense that even the air seemed to ripple.
Ruan Yao couldn't stand extreme heat, yet his tone was unusually calm. "If an innocent person gets hurt because of this, I'll never forgive you, Lin Xuan."
He was always like this—spoiled by affection, willfully making unreasonable demands. Yet Lin Xuan had long since fallen for him and couldn't even utter a simple refusal.
"Yao Yao, you have to leave with me." Lin Xuan's voice was hoarse.
Ruan Yao didn't reply. He only gave Lin Xuan a faint glance with his light-colored eyes. In an instant, those pale eyes deepened, then cleared like clouds parting.
Lin Xuan's pupils momentarily lost focus.
But Wen Siyan chuckled softly. "This time, I won't be so easily ambushed by you."
He completely ignored the flames licking his body, his laughter like a crow in the night.
Suddenly, Chu Lingyi spoke up. "Alright."
He stared intently at Wen Siyan and pushed Lin Xuan out into the hallway.
Lin Xuan glanced back at this love rival, finally calming down. He silently mouthed to Chu Linyi, "If something happens to Ruan Yao, I will kill you. I mean it."
Chu Linyi nodded.
"Even without you, I wouldn't forgive myself."
"Those two boys don't truly love you," Wen Siyan said softly, as if telling a bedtime story while watching the two leave. "If I were them, I would rather die with you, Yao."
Without you, this deadly choice wouldn't even exist!
Ruan Yao scoffed internally.
At some point, Wen Siyan had hidden a dagger on him. He raised the gleaming knife. "I will let Yao die in the most beautiful way."
That kind of death is obviously brutal!
"I don't understand why it has to be me?" Ruan Yao broke free from Wen Siyan's embrace, his tone cold.
Standing further from the flames, his already striking features appeared even sharper under the flickering firelight. His pale eyes shimmered in the glow.
"Why? Love needs no reason, Yao." Wen Siyan gently caressed Ruan Yao's cheek.
Ruan Yao stepped back in disgust. "Don't touch me!"
Another step back, and he was fully in the corridor. By now, the fire had spread into the hallway. The once dark, enclosed passage was now illuminated by a terrifying, desperate red light, casting a burning hue on the ceiling.
As Ruan Yao stepped back into the corridor, he didn't notice something underfoot and slipped.
Instinctively, he closed his eyes, but he didn't fall.
Someone caught him.
Chu Linyi hadn't left. He had been hiding in the hallway, watching Ruan Yao face this madman alone, unable to hold back any longer.
The corridor was quickly being consumed by flames. Luckily, the restroom was right next to the equipment room. Chu Linyi had turned on all the faucets, soaking himself entirely.
"Bear with it for now." Chu Linyi draped his soaked shirt over Ruan Yao, covering him except for his eyes.
Seeing Chu Linyi's bare upper body, Ruan Yao anxiously tried to give the shirt back. "Why don't you take care of yourself first?"
Chu Linyi firmly held Ruan Yao down, his gaze serious. Outside the restroom, Wen Siyan's voice echoed, calling for Ruan Yao.
It wouldn't be long before he found them.
"Wen Siyan is right. I love you, so I'm willing to trade my life for your safety."
Chu Linyi had never spoken such words to Ruan Yao. For someone usually so cold, a tender confession carried immense weight, softening even the hardest heart.
Ruan Yao's gaze drifted from Chu Linyi's face to his bare shoulders.
A winding, old scar traced across the boy's broad shoulder.
Ruan Yao was momentarily stunned, suddenly recalling many questions that had long puzzled him.
Now, it seemed all the answers had become clear.
Ruan Yao's eyes trembled slightly before blooming into a soft and radiant smile like spring flowers. "So it was you all along," he whispered.
"I actually have a way to save all of you." Ruan Yao smiled with a sense of relief, as if a heavy burden had been lifted.
Chu Lingyi frowned, sensing something ominous. "What are you talking about? Don’t overthink it, do you hear me, Ruan Yao!"
In his heart, Ruan Yao called out, "System."
The system's mechanical voice carried a broken sob, "Confirming the use of 100 points to exchange for the special anesthetic. Target: Chu Lingyi."
"Ruan Yao!" Chu Lingyi's roar was almost a growl, but he could only watch helplessly as Ruan Yao walked away, falling into unconsciousness himself.
"Mr. Wen."
The boy’s voice was always soft and sweet, reminiscent of candy and other pleasant things.
Wen Siyan stood frozen.
Ruan Yao slowly approached him. He had never been this proactive with Wen Siyan before. The boy tiptoed in the midst of the raging fire, reaching out his slender, pale arms to wrap around Wen Siyan’s neck.
Wen Siyan couldn’t move.
"Mr. Wen, didn’t you say you wanted to go to hell? Then please, go ahead."
Even while uttering such cruel words, the boy’s delicate features remained stunningly beautiful in the firelight.
His red lips were vibrant, and his shimmering eyes trembled.
Wen Siyan was bewitched.
He embraced Ruan Yao tightly, and with a clang, the sharp knife in his hand fell to the ground.

"Ding... Host’s physical death detected"
"Preparing for host disengagement..."
"Congratulations to the host for achieving the accomplishment: 'Deserved Punishment'"
When Ruan Yao opened his eyes again, he found himself lying safely in his cozy little nest.
The light brain emitted a faint blue glow, blinking incessantly, signaling someone was desperately trying to call him.
Ruan Yao hadn’t fully recovered from the previous world, his voice hoarse as if he had been crying. "Hello, Senior Sister Xiaolu."
On the screen popped up a beautiful girl with green eyes and brown hair, her face full of excitement. "Damn, amazing, Xiao Yao! Your mission record went viral!"
Ruan Yao was confused. "Huh?"
Lu Fei was probably just finishing a security mission. She slapped the car hood on the street excitedly. "Your live mission broadcast hit a million views! You got a direct five-star rating! Your grades for the whole year are secured!"
The girl in uniform sincerely marveled again, "You’re incredible, Xiao Yao. The main storyline ended in complete betrayal between the top and bottom, yet the audience still gave you a perfect score. Unbelievable!"
Ruan Yao still didn’t understand. Rubbing his sleepy eyes, his long lashes lazily drooped over his eyelids. "So?"
"It means your next mission will level up in difficulty. If you complete it perfectly, you’ll get promoted!"
The curvy beauty blew a playful kiss through the screen to the dazed and adorable boy.
"So, good luck on your journey, darling."
