Every Day the Villain Continues to Fail
[Quick Transmigration]
Ruan Yao was sent to the police station by Qi Ren.
Gu Rongming, although he really wanted to accompany him, had just taken over the leaderless Gu family. With a pile of affairs waiting for the new head of the family to handle, he was overwhelmed with responsibilities and could only ask Qi Ren to accompany his 'wife'
Gu Rongming couldn’t rest easy letting Ruan Yao go out alone, but the idea of sending someone unreliable made him even more uncomfortable.
As for Ruan Yao, he wasn’t particularly eager to go out with Gu Rongming.
Especially with the faint pain still lingering on the corner of his lips, the fear within him seemed to bubble up uncontrollably, growing stronger over time.
Ruan Yao sat listlessly in the back seat, curling himself up into a small ball without much energy. His loosely tied black hair framed a pale, delicate face, but the center of his lips held an unusually vivid shade of red.
Gu Rongming observed his lifeless demeanor, looking like someone bedridden and void of desires, yet he had pushed Ruan Yao to the point where he couldn’t even close his mouth.
A faint silver thread clung to the soft red tip of his tongue, dangling precariously before falling onto his thin clothes, dampening the already light fabric.
The fresh herbal scent wafted into Ruan Yao’s nose.
His eyes brimmed with a pleading flush of red, yet Gu Rongming refused to let him go.
It was as if some peculiar gate had been opened. The man, once gentle and scholarly, suddenly became obsessive and terrifying. His hands were strong, gripping Ruan Yao’s jaw so tightly it hurt, leaving deep red finger marks on his pale cheeks.
“Don’t hide from me, Yao Yao.”
Gu Rongming’s pale face flushed with a sickly red, and a cold glint flickered in his abyssal eyes. Ruan Yao, pinned on his lap, could almost feel the warmth radiating through the fabric despite his numbed legs. A shiver of pleasure seemed to ripple through him.
The doctor had repeatedly warned Gu Rongming to avoid emotional turbulence for the sake of his health and to abstain from certain indecent indulgences. Yet today, he broke every rule.
And he willingly drowned in this intoxicating trap.
Ruan Yao, dizzy and weak from the intense kissing, pushed him away with a teary voice, “Stop it. I feel terrible.”
He was visibly displeased. Humans and their tendency to kiss and cling were utterly troublesome, always leaving him feeling sticky and unclean.
Ruan Yao hated the clammy sensation on his body. Struggling to put some distance between them, he gasped for breath and tried to redirect the conversation to something serious. “Don’t you care about finding the real culprit?”
Gu Rongming pressed a cold, jade-like finger against Ruan Yao’s soft lips, his expression curling into a faint, chilling smile. “Shh, don’t worry. I’ll catch him. Any rat who dares to covet you, I’ll crush them bit by bit.”
Ruan Yao froze, a cold sweat breaking out on his back.
He suddenly realized he might have underestimated Gu Rongming.
Gu Rongming didn’t care about Gu Jin’s fate. In fact, Gu Jin’s imprisonment was orchestrated by him, and Gu Rongzhang’s death was merely a convenient tool to topple Gu Jin.
Of course, someone who had spent years navigating the treacherous world of power and status wouldn’t cling to something as fleeting as familial bonds. Only the power firmly held in his hands could provide him with real security.
His outward demeanor of politeness and warmth was nothing more than a cat-and-mouse game. Falling for it would only lead to an untraceable demise.
A chill ran through Ruan Yao. Struggling to his feet, he said, “I just remembered I have something to do. I need to leave.”
Gu Rongming reached out to stop him but was sharply swatted away.
With a crisp “slap” the back of his pale hand quickly swelled red.
For a moment, time seemed to freeze.
Ruan Yao, flustered and panicked, refused to come any closer. With reddened, rabbit-like eyes, he stammered “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”
Gu Rongming stared into his eyes those clear, water-like pupils reflecting fear and unintentional allure. Yet there wasn’t the slightest trace of love in them not even a hint of affection.
He recalled the funeral for Gu Rongzhang, where he had seen a tall woman in a black dress. Behind her veil, his delicate features cast a wary, anxious glance his way.
Like a caged golden canary suddenly left without shelter, desperately seeking another perch.
He knew he was nothing more than a fraud trying to climb the social ladder. Yet that timid beauty still captivated him.
What he had dismissed as a mere bout of illness-induced rapid heartbeats turned out to be the dangerous seed of the deep despair he now found himself in.
That night, he lost control. He had untied the enticing clothing and gazed at the perfect body beneath, so flawless it left him breathless.
Even if his so-called sister-in-law turned out to be a young boy barely of age, every inch of that soft, warm skin wrapped around his delicate frame silently consumed him.
It was like an irresistible whirlpool of desire, dragging Gu Rongming further into depravity.
It didn’t matter that there was no love now. As long as they stayed together, he could fulfill all of Ruan Yao’s desires. One day, Ruan Yao would fall for him, wouldn’t he?
Gu Rongzhang, that useless man, didn’t deserve him. That’s why he met his end before even having the chance to enjoy him. And Gu Jin? He tried to compete with him but failed miserably.
Ruan Yao was meant to be his. It was destiny.
“Yao Yao, I won’t force you.” Gu Rongming donned his mask of warmth again, his gentle smile capable of stealing anyone’s heart. “Whenever you’re ready, we can start. Okay?”
As if coaxing a child.
Ruan Yao turned his head away. He had no idea Gu Rongming had already uncovered his true identity. His voice remained soft and hoarse. “Do you think… this is fair to Gu Rongzhang?”
A low chuckle rumbled from Gu Rongming’s throat. His long, slender fingers interlaced on his lap, his pale skin nearly translucent under the sunlight.
It was as if he had just heard a joke. His dark, refined eyes carried a cold, merciless smile. “Brother?”
The man spread his hands indifferently, narrowing his eyes as the curve of his lips widened. “Sorry, but I like your wife.”

Now, every time Ruan Yao thought of the smug expression Gu Rongming wore when he casually said those words, he ground his molars in frustration.
“He’s shameless! A scoundrel! I totally misjudged him!” Feeling utterly betrayed, Ruan Yao vented to the system within his consciousness. His delicate eyelashes drooped dejectedly. “I thought he was the kindest person in the Gu family.”
The system, in turn, affectionately patted its host with its mechanical arm, reciting lines with deep emotion, “That year, amidst the light spring rain, you said you were his sister-in-law. Perhaps some things were wrong from the very beginning.”
Ruan Yao: “…” Now he was even angrier, puffing up like a furious pufferfish.
The driver in the front seat was nervously driving, not daring to look back. Secretary Qi had warned him that if he dared to glance at Madam even once, the consequences would be having his eyes gouged out, per Second Master's orders.
Qi Ren sat next to Ruan Yao, looking at him with some concern. “Madam, are you feeling unwell?”
Such a considerate Xiao Qi.
Ruan Yao snapped back to his senses and forced himself to perk up a bit. “I’m fine.”
The system chimed in thoughtfully, “Remember to maintain your promiscuous and arrogant persona in front of Qi Ren. That way, our little secretary will dislike you even more.”
Ruan Yao let out a long sigh, deeply feeling the hardships of his “job.”
“Madam?” Qi Ren looked at him in confusion. The secretary had the kind of scholarly, refined appearance, with long, delicate eyes that were often lowered in humility. Ignoring his subtle presence, his features could actually be considered quite exquisite.
Bullying someone like this gave Ruan Yao an unexpected sense of pressure.
“I didn’t sleep well last night” Ruan Yao said, adjusting his attitude and narrowing his long lashes slightly, gazing at Qi Ren with an air of haughtiness. “I couldn’t sleep all night because I kept thinking about that annoying prankster who’s yet to be caught”
“And it’s all your fault” He irrationally shifted all the blame onto the man, throwing a tantrum like a spoiled brat.
“In any case, I don’t care. You have to compensate me for my lost sleep. How much longer until we get to the police station?”
Qi Ren glanced at his wristwatch. “Madam can rest for a while. It’ll still be another half an hour until we reach the city center.”
“Rest? With this bumpy ride, how am I supposed to rest?” Ruan Yao quirked his lips into a mischievous smile and leaned in slightly, blowing a faint breath on Qi Ren’s nose.
His lips curved into a rosy, playful grin. “Why don’t you be my pillow instead?”
The secretary’s body suddenly stiffened, his voice stammering as he dared not look in Ruan Yao’s direction. “M-Madam, that might not be appropriate”
Ruan Yao, with a glint of malice, leaned closer. “What’s inappropriate? Are you afraid of me?”
Judging by his reaction, he certainly seemed afraid. Cold sweat was starting to form. Truly, being a domineering rich wife came with its own set of destructive powers, enough to make even someone as gentle-tempered as Qi Ren feel cornered.
Their breaths intertwined at such a close distance that Qi Ren could clearly see Ruan Yao’s thick, curled lashes one by one.
His fingers clenched tightly in his palms, nearly breaking the skin.
Ruan Yao, oblivious to this, leaned in even closer. His dark hair fell softly from behind his ear, the cool strands brushing against Qi Ren’s fingertips, sending a tingling jolt like an electric current.
Ruan Yao fully leaned onto Qi Ren, cheekily issuing a warning. “If I fall off midway, you’re done for!”
Qi Ren’s expression was unreadable at this point. He lowered his eyes, not daring to even glance at Ruan Yao.
Feeling like he had successfully upheld his role as a wicked 'wife' Ruan Yao closed his eyes, surprisingly starting to feel a bit drowsy. It seemed the driver hired by the Gu family, paid handsomely no doubt, was not only skilled at driving steadily but also adept at putting passengers to sleep.
Qi Ren sat frozen in place for what felt like an eternity before he suddenly noticed how unusually quiet it had become.
Ruan Yao had actually fallen asleep.
Qi Ren pinched his palm harder, silently warning himself not to entertain delusions of receiving the Madam’s favor. This was just… a coincidence, nothing more.
Yes, just a coincidence.
How could Madam ever direct his attention toward someone as unremarkable as him?
But the mere thought of Madam leaning on someone else made him unable to suppress a surge of jealousy and murderous intent.
Madam could only lean on him. Madam was his.
His gaze fixated obsessively on the strand of black hair that had fallen onto the back of his hand. His sigh blended into the wind:
“When will you ever look at me?”
