Chapter 53

Every Day the Villain Continues to Fail

[Quick Transmigration]

Ruan Yao sat idly on the sofa, letting out a deep sigh.

"I kind of regret telling him about the pervert who harassed me" Ruan Yao muttered, complaining to the system.

Ever since returning from the prison visit, Gu Rongming had used the excuse of 'being worried the pervert might come after him again' to keep Ruan Yao by his side at all times.

Even when going to work at the office, Ruan Yao had to sit inside the office with him.

While Gu Rongming dealt with business matters, Ruan Yao was coaxed, sometimes gently, sometimes forcefully into staying in a small partitioned area, watching movies or playing games.

As long as he stayed obediently by Gu Rongming’s side, that was all that mattered.

"I like you, Yao Yao"

The man leaned down gently, tucking a stray lock of black hair behind the boy’s ear. His smile was both sickly and tender.

"When you climbed into my bed, did you not know what kind of person I was?"

Obsessive, dark, tainted by depraved desires, a prisoner trapped in the abyss of love and sinking deeper into corruption.

"Even if Yao Yao is a boy, I still like you… so much it’s killing me."

A strange flush colored his pale cheeks. His exquisite, ink-painted features were overflowing with an uncontrollable love that he couldn’t even bother to hide.

Ruan Yao involuntarily shivered, belatedly realizing that he might have provoked someone extremely dangerous.

The little beauty knew exactly what it meant to 'adapt to survive' His thick eyelashes fluttered slightly, and his voice softened, sweet and obedient. His light-colored pupils shimmered with feigned sincerity.

"I… I like Uncle too. I’ll do anything Uncle wants me to."

—Yeah, right.

"Even though the CEO’s office is really comfortable, I need to find time to search through Gu Rongzhang’s study!"

Ruan Yao sprawled on the sofa like a lifeless fish, his chin resting miserably against a fluffy pillow.

The projector was playing an old horror romance film about a love affair between a vampire and a human woman. These old-fashioned films prioritized sensory stimulation, with morals that were often completely shattered.

At that moment, the scene on the screen showed the handsome vampire slipping into the heroine’s room under the cover of night, intimately whispering against the stunning beauty’s ear.

A blood moon cast an ominous red glow in the sky, like the eyes of a demon peering into the world. A raven cawed in the midnight air, while the castle was lit up as bright as day.

The male lead danced gracefully in the ballroom, completely unaware that his wife had already become the lover of a monster.

Ruan Yao wasn't wearing headphones.

The wet, indecent sounds of lips and tongues intertwining echoed through the spacious room.

He was doing this on purpose, to distract Gu Rongming. If the man insisted on keeping him by his side, then he shouldn’t expect to get any serious work done.

Meanwhile, Gu Rongming, who was handling company documents, turned his head toward Ruan Yao, catching a glimpse of the boy’s fair feet through the half-open door of the small room.

Ever since Gu Rongming had uncovered Ruan Yao’s true identity, the boy had stopped pretending. Now, dressed in casual shorts, he lounged on the beanbag chair with his bare legs dangling in the air, swaying lazily.

Ruan Yao’s entire body was as pale and smooth as white jade, even his toes round and delicate, like pink flower buds. From the angle of the half-open door, one could even see a glimpse of his slender waist peeking out from beneath his oversized shirt.

Gu Rongming’s voice was especially gentle, as if he saw right through Ruan Yao’s childish little ploy to annoy him.

"If you’re bored, you can come sit with me."

Ruan Yao thought, Wouldn’t that be even more boring? He didn’t understand any of those documents anyway, he might as well just drop dead instead.

"I need to use the bathroom"

Ruan Yao put down the remote control. The paused screen behind him was frozen on an intimate scene of two people passionately kissing.

His bare feet sank into the plush, dark red carpet embroidered with gold. The soft, velvety fibers cradled his pink toes like a priceless jewel resting on the finest silk.

He innocently shook the empty soda bottle in his hand.

"I drank too much."

Next time, I need to install a bathroom in my office.

The newly appointed CEO of Gu Corporation spun the pen in his fingers absentmindedly.

"Be back in ten minutes" Though he granted permission, his voice carried an undeniable reluctance.

"He says he likes me, but he actually hates me, doesn’t he?"

This kind of life, where every little move he made was being monitored, was driving Ruan Yao crazy.

"He must secretly want to see me lose my mind. That has to be it."

Dragging his feet, Ruan Yao stood at the sink, reluctant to go back.

The reflection in the mirror showed a young beauty who had been living a rather comfortable life lately. His cheeks were soft and plump, pale and delicate, making him look as delectable as a ripe peach.

"Maybe… maybe I can use this chance to escape?"

Ruan Yao’s eyes lit up with hope as he turned toward the system expectantly.

The system’s monotonous, robotic voice sounded utterly exhausted.

"Based on an environmental scan, there are at least fifty professional security personnel in this building, including ten retired mercenaries from overseas. If you do not return to the office within ten minutes, Gu Rongming will notice.

Within twenty minutes, those men will have you restrained and delivered right back to him."

Facing Gu Rongming’s wrath was inevitable. Usually, it was the people who smiled all the time that were the scariest when angry.

Ruan Yao felt that he probably didn’t want to see such a bloody scene.

“I really regret not learning invisibility from that Taoist brother back then,” Ruan Yao sighed regretfully.

The system responded, “Even if you had learned it, you wouldn’t be able to use it in this world.” Besides, could Taoists even do that?

Seeing that escaping was impossible, Ruan Yao sulkily dragged his feet out of the restroom. Just as he stepped out the door, someone suddenly grabbed his wrist.

Ruan Yao turned around abruptly.

“Shh” The man, who looked exactly like Gu Jin, pressed a finger against his lips, flashing a mischievous smile.

It was that pervert who had tied him to the bed and licked him!

Ruan Yao’s voice trembled, but he still tried to sound fierce as he whispered, “I’m warning you, no biting! No licking either! This is the Gu family’s territory. If you dare touch me, I’ll scream! I really will!”

The man pulled him back into the restroom stall, and with a loud bang, the door was shut. He pressed Ruan Yao against the cold ceramic tiles, their legs intertwined, forcing Ruan Yao to stand on his tiptoes in the narrow space.

“I just love hearing you scream, little beauty” the man murmured, his breath hot against Ruan Yao’s face, filling his senses with an overwhelming masculine scent.

“L-Let go” Ruan Yao struggled to pry his hand off, but he couldn’t even budge a single finger. Frustrated, he was almost ready to resort to biting.

Too weak—like a little kitten, yet always tangled up with such dangerous people.

“So fierce,” the man chuckled. “I’m here to save you this time.”

He placed a baseball cap over Ruan Yao’s head and, as if performing a magic trick, pulled out a set of men’s casual sportswear.

Ruan Yao’s head was small, and with the cap pulled low, most of his vision was blocked.

“Why… are you helping me?”

The man smiled. “Because I think you’re good-looking.”

What nonsense.

Seeing Ruan Yao’s disbelief, the man didn’t bother to explain further. The smirk remained on his lips. “Just follow behind me and stay quiet”

With three minutes left before Gu Rongming’s deadline, the man confidently strolled down the company hallway, looking exactly like Gu Jin, and turned into the fire escape.

As employees passed by and saw him, they showed a mix of respect and fear. “Young Master”

The man nodded calmly and led Ruan Yao past them as if nothing was amiss.

Following closely behind, Ruan Yao looked just like an ordinary, albeit unusually slender, subordinate.

At first, he was confused, but after a brief moment of thought, he understood. Gu Rongming might have declared that he wanted to ruin Gu Jin completely, but a massive, deeply rooted family like the Gu clan thrived and fell together.

While Gu Rongming could deal with Gu Jin in secret, he wouldn’t allow a scandal like patricide to destroy the Gu family’s foundation publicly.

In other words, Gu Jin’s imprisonment was currently only known to a few core members of the family.

This made it easier for the man to impersonate Gu Jin.

But Gu Rongming wasn’t an easy opponent. The moment Ruan Yao didn’t return within ten minutes, suspicion arose. In an instant, a sea of black-suited bodyguards locked down the entire building, ensuring not even a mosquito could escape.

At that moment, the man had already led Ruan Yao to the third floor. The fire escape was usually deserted, allowing them to move freely without obstruction.

When the alarm blared throughout the entire building, Ruan Yao couldn’t help but instinctively clutch the man’s sleeve. “What do we do now?”

The man still had an expression of absolute confidence. He lowered his head and asked Ruan Yao, “Have you ever tried jumping off a building?”

“W-what?”

The restroom on the third floor was right next to the emergency exit. Taking advantage of the fact that the bodyguards hadn’t reached this area yet, the man pulled Ruan Yao inside.

At the very back of the men's restroom was a window facing the street. Perhaps the janitor had been careless, as the window had been left open, seemingly welcoming the man’s arrival.

“The movie you were watching earlier was Castle of Lost Dreams, a film from about fifty years ago.”

“It tells the story of the vampire Zeiss, who fell in love with Duchess Marlena. Night after night, they indulged in secret rendezvous, until one day, Zeiss took Marlena away from her stifling, boring aristocratic life and granted her immortality.”

Ruan Yao didn’t understand his point.

The man simply chuckled, then scooped Ruan Yao up in his arms and said, “Hold on tight, little Marlena”

“Hey!” Ruan Yao panicked and instinctively wrapped his arms around the man's neck. “Be careful!”

Without a moment of hesitation, the man stepped onto the windowsill, pushed off with his booted foot, and leaped out!

In the movie, after the Duchess’s affair with the vampire was exposed, a bloody night followed. The devilishly handsome vampire rescued his imprisoned lover from the high tower.

Under the blood-red moon, his wings tore through the clouds, while the beauty’s unbound hair cascaded down his arm, flowing wildly in the howling night wind.

The man used a protruding rooftop ledge to cushion their fall, landing steadily. Feeling pleased with himself, he looked down at the beauty in his arms and asked, “So? Wasn’t that exciting?”

Ruan Yao’s face was pale, his head spinning.

Not really. I could’ve done it better myself, he thought.

Author’s note:

A failed attempt at looking cool.

While writing this, I was reminded of an old vampire movie called Bram Stoker’s Dracula. I don’t remember the details clearly anymore, but Winona Ryder was truly stunning~
