Chapter 63

Every Day the Villain Continues to Fail

[Quick Transmigration]

The name of Qiao Xinyan’s bar was FALLEN, its décor a blend of luxurious and dark Gothic style.

The all-black entrance framed by dark red cursive letters stood out even among the glitzy, bustling bar street of S City, giving off a decadent and ambiguous vibe.

Over the years, she had built an extensive network.

On its opening night, the entrance was lined with luxury cars.

Men and women, their faces glowing with intoxicated smiles, gracefully stepped through that door that symbolized indulgence and excess.

Ruan Yao gazed out of the car window, eyes full of envy, and muttered to the system “Honestly, I feel a bit ashamed. We’ve been through so many worlds, and I’ve never even gone clubbing”

The system seemed equally eager, its pixelated screen forming a cute smiling face. “No worries, tonight you can dance till your head falls off.”

Ruan Yao’s lips twitched. “That’s really not necessary.”

He had sneaked out from Sheng Yirong’s mansion. The bastard had practically treated him like a pet, locking him in a room with a chain.

Other than Sheng Yirong himself, the only people Ruan Yao ever saw were the maids who brought him food.

Yang Fei, that bastard, was supposed to be his manager. In truth, he was just Sheng Yirong’s spy, keeping tabs on him.

He even logged into Ruan Yao’s social media account, which had more haters than fans and posted a staged photo of a luxury hotel meal to assure everyone he was fine.

The result was a swarm of obsessive haters accusing him of flaunting his wealth while relying on a sugar daddy.

Ruan Yao glanced down at his legs, marked with red from the restraints, and worried about the woman who helped him escape.

He couldn’t help but feel anxious about whether she’d be in trouble because of him.

The system piped up, sounding surprisingly reliable. “Don’t worry, Master. I’ve already tampered with the surveillance footage. They’ll only see you heroically escaping on your own.”

Ruan Yao’s eyes watered. “System bro, you’re the best”

The system scratched its little bald head. “No need to thank me. Though it will cost you 10,000 points”

Ruan Yao’s tears immediately vanished.

Sheng Yirong hadn’t completely cut him off from the outside world. He figured three days in solitary confinement was enough to break Ruan Yao’s spirit, so Ruan Yao still managed to get his hands on his phone.

He had called a cab to the bar without much thought, only realizing upon arrival that he might be a bit underdressed.

In a simple white T-shirt and jeans, with his soft, round cheeks, he looked every bit like an innocent student.

Amidst the crowd of sultry, stylish clubgoers, he stuck out like a sore thumb.

Grabbing a strand of his blue hair, Ruan Yao muttered, “At least I’ve got this cool blue hair.”

The system’s mechanical hand rubbed its square metal chin, falling silent.

Cool or not, he definitely stood out.

This casually dressed boy possessed a face so stunning it could make hearts race at a glance, paired with a pure, almost naïve aura that seemed to invite trouble.

It was as if a delicate lamb had wandered into a den of ravenous wolves.

Oblivious, the little lamb looked around with wide-eyed innocence, unaware of the danger surrounding him.

Ruan Yao was hoping to find Pei Xinan, but with the club’s dazzling lights constantly shifting and the deafening music blasting from the DJ booth, combined with the steady stream of people passing by, finding someone was proving to be quite a challenge.

He decided to call Pei Xinan. Just as he pulled out his phone, someone tapped him on the shoulder. “Hey there, cutie girl, wanna add me on social media?”

Startled, Ruan Yao turned around to see a scrawny man in a garish floral shirt with bleached hair. The guy looked like he’d been drained of all vitality.

Having been locked up by Sheng Yirong for days, Ruan Yao instinctively recoiled from physical contact. He dodged the man’s hand and frowned slightly. “I’m not a girl.”

As he lifted his face, Blondie’s eyes lit up, his oily grin wide enough to fry an egg. “Oh, a cute boy then. Sorry about that. Wanna grab a drink?”

“We’ve got a pretty fun group at our booth”

Completely ignoring Ruan Yao’s frown, the guy reached out again, trying to wrap an arm around his shoulder.

Even Ruan Yao wasn’t dense enough to miss the ill intent. He swiftly stepped back, only to collide into a warm chest.

Pei Xinan wrapped an arm possessively around Ruan Yao’s waist, pulling him close.

His gaze, cold and sharp, fixed on the blonde guy. “Seems you’re pretty interested in my partner?”

The snake-shaped brow piercing above his eyebrow glinted menacingly in the dim red light, his fierce eyes exuding an overpowering aura.

Blondie faltered under the icy glare but quickly recovered as he recognized who stood before him. He forced a grin. “Oh wow, isn’t this Pei Xinan? Didn’t expect to see you here.”

He gave a suggestive wink, his gaze lingering on Ruan Yao’s face. “Didn’t know you were into this type. Wonder what the paparazzi would say”

Ruan Yao broke free from his arms and hid behind Pei Xinan, only sticking out her head, her eyes vigilantly fixed on the yellow-haired man.

Pei Xinan sneered, grabbing Ruan Yao’s hand, and tried to walk away. “What’s it to you? Mind your own business.”

The yellow-haired man spat on the floor, a smirk spreading across his face. “Don’t go. I heard you have a lot of female fans. With so many people here, what do you think would happen if I shout? Do you think I’d run into one of your female fans?”

Pei Xinan, who had always been the rebellious type, had a distinct style in music creation that drew more fans who were true music lovers.

As long as he didn’t break any laws, his fanbase wouldn’t be damaged.

Normally, offending someone for no reason, especially a big-name celebrity, would be very unwise.

Yet the yellow-haired man seemed oddly determined.

Ruan Yao’s pale amber eyes glowed with a seductive charm under the soft lighting, as if it would be effortless to destroy someone’s sanity.

He almost leaned forward to touch Ruan Yao’s face, peering past Pei Xinan’s shoulder.

Ruan Yao reacted swiftly, shrinking away, narrowly avoiding the man’s hand.

Pei Xinan grabbed the yellow-haired man’s wrist with a force that twisted his face in pain.

The young man’s face remained expressionless. “You’re looking for death.”

The yellow-haired man screamed, but his voice was soon drowned by the loud music from the dance floor.

This should have been a heroic moment, the typical scene of a knight rescuing a lady.

However, Ruan Yao, trembling, tapped the system. “System, why didn’t you tell me the protagonist is... this good at fighting?”

The system, lost in admiration for Pei Xinan’s appearance, cupped its own face in awe. “The protagonist’s setting has to keep up with the trends. Beauty, strength, and tragedy, this is the true essence of pure love!”

As the side character who would make Pei Xinan’s life miserable, Ruan Yao could already foresee the painful fate of being turned into a pig’s head.

“Ugh, I run a bar, not a place for you to come and fight.” A woman in a red fishtail dress walked over, holding a drink.

“Who dares to ruin my opening day? Get out if you don’t know how to behave.”

Qiao Xinyan’s tea-colored eyes coldly locked onto the yellow-haired man’s dislocated wrist.

Her crimson lips curved into a cold smile as she addressed Pei Xinan. “Isn’t that right, Young Master Pei?”

The yellow-haired man, finally realizing the trouble he had caused, turned pale and stumbled away in a hurry.

Qiao Xinyan’s gaze shifted past Pei Xinan, landing on the round blue head behind him.

Ruan Yao didn’t recognize this beautiful older sister but still gave her a friendly smile.

Qiao Xinyan smiled brightly and, unafraid of Pei Xinan’s murderous glare, pinched Ruan Yao’s soft, glutinous cheek. “Yao Yao, hi, I’ve been waiting for you.”

Before Ruan Yao could respond, Pei Xinan, filled with jealousy, moved to block her line of sight.

Qiao Xinyan couldn’t continue flirting with Ruan Yao and could only roll her eyes at the silly boy, Pei Xinan.

“What did that idiot do to you?” Pei Xinan’s face was cold as he checked Ruan Yao for any injuries.

Ruan Yao, still a bit dazed, sensed Pei Xinan’s concern. “He just came over to flirt with me. I’m fine.”

Pei Xinan didn’t intend to ask about that. What he wanted to know was what Sheng Yirong had done to him during the days he was away.

Ruan Yao noticed the worry in Pei Xinan’s eyes, lowered her head, and her gaze drifted. “Sorry, I had a really urgent announcement these past few days...”

Once the first lie left his lips, everything else flowed smoothly.

"You know my current situation. An opportunity like this is not easy to come by."

Though Pei Xinan knew he was lying, he couldn't bring himself to expose him when he saw the subtle sorrow in Ruan Yao’s eyes.

If he tore off that shield of embarrassment, there was no telling if Ruan Yao would leave him.

As Ruan Yao spoke, he began to feel genuinely sad.

The original data had been shaped by Ruan Yao’s own consciousness, and his longing for the stage had deeply affected him in this world.

He sighed, forcing a smile. “Whether it gets aired or not, I have to try.”

Pei Xinan felt a strange pang in his chest.

He had had an easy journey since being discovered by a talent scout. He was constantly bombarded with offers and had never gone through anything as difficult as Ruan Yao’s current situation.

He recalled the magazine that had completely cut out Ruan Yao’s shots.

Perhaps what Ruan Yao said was the truth. Even the rare opportunities one managed to get could be shattered by a few words from someone high up.

Qiao Xinyan had arranged a booth for them on the second floor, where three or four other people were already sitting and drinking.

When they saw Qiao Xinyan arrive, they all raised their glasses in greeting, but their smiles faded when they saw Ruan Yao peeking out from behind Pei Xinan.

The men, whose eyes were already glazed from alcohol, suddenly seemed to fill with a strange, heavy desire.

“These are the rising stars of the entertainment industry,” Qiao Xinyan said, appearing quite fond of Ruan Yao.

She eagerly introduced him to the men at the booth, pushing Pei Xinan aside. Her slender fingers pressed lightly on Ruan Yao's shoulders.

It was Ruan Yao’s first time being so close to a woman like this, and he felt a bit dazed, unsure of where to place his hands and feet.

A mixed-race man with long hair, sitting directly across from Ruan Yao, grinned playfully. "I’m Yan Hui, little friend, long time no see."

Ruan Yao paused. The man’s flirtatious, lecherous attitude seemed oddly familiar, as if he had seen him somewhere before.

Pei Xinan placed his drink down with a clink, the sound of the glass hitting the coffee table clear in the silence. “Isn’t this the director Yan who got beaten up and sent to the hospital for hitting on someone’s girlfriend?”

Author’s note:

Ahem, I’ve seen some complaints about Yao Yao, so I want to clarify that from the very beginning, this book has portrayed him as a silly beauty. He’s a fool now, and he will always be a fool. He will muddle his way through, and even if he can’t, there will always be a jerk pushing him through, even though he won’t know how. He’s just a little idiot who occasionally makes clever mistakes. I don’t want to see anyone criticizing him harshly in the comments. You can say I have thin skin, or call me whatever, but Yao Yao is my first son. I don’t want to see any excessive attacks on him. Thanks, everyone!
