Chapter 25

Every Day the Villain Continues to Fail

[Quick Transmigration]

Ruan Yao was ble to return to his dormitory.

Chu Lingyi took him to his own room.

As expected of a top student, his mind was quick, and he seriously persuaded Ruan Yao while also badmouthing a certain well-known violent figure: "You wouldn’t want these messy marks to be seen by Lin Xuan, right? That person looks like someone who can't control his emotions, who knows what he might do."

Ruan Yao, being easily persuaded, nodded while clinging to Chu Lingyi's neck and said "What you said makes sense."

Chu Lingyi, still dissatisfied, crossed his arms and turned to walk away "No one’s been allowed in my room before, you’re lucky."

The protagonist's character was already collapsing, racing down a path of destruction that even ten cows couldn’t drag back.

Being allowed into the protagonist's bedroom, Ruan Yao felt a few black lines appear on his forehead.

He truly felt honored.

The temperamental young master huffed and muttered under his breath "Who cares?"

As the one secretly trained by his father to be the heir, the protagonist's living space was a luxurious single room.

As the outwardly recognized young master of the Ruan family, Ruan Yao didn’t even enjoy such treatment. Swinging his legs, he glanced at the minimalist-styled room and pouted in displeasure.

This guy seemed to have completely forgotten that it was he who had insisted on sharing a room with Lin Xuan in the first place.

Chu Lingyi went to take a shower, leaving Ruan Yao alone at the computer, eagerly starting to watch the new anime.

Ruan Yao got so absorbed in it that he didn’t realize the boy, who smelled like shower gel, had come to stand behind him. Only when he looked up, did he realize, blinking in confusion, and staring at the handsome young man in front of him.

Chu Lingyi, feeling frustrated, realized that Ruan Yao was always able to quickly get over his negative emotions.

Just an hour ago, Ruan Yao had been crying in his arms, saying he 'was about to die' but now he was completely carefree, watching the latest anime, as if nothing in this world could leave any lasting mark on him.

Chu Lingyi, irritated, opened the closet and grabbed two pieces of clothing. "These two should fit you. Just make do with them."

Ruan Yao held the pajamas Chu Lingyi threw at him, whispering to the system "Why is he always getting angry for no reason?"

The system replied "According to the protagonist's character profile, tsundere is also a cute trait."

Ruan Yao: "I see."

Chu Lingyi sat at the computer desk, his expression unreadable as he paid attention to the sound of water flowing from the bathroom. The misty water vapor enveloped the shower area, and through the frosted glass, slender limbs, slightly tinged with flesh tones, could be seen.

Chu Lingyi didn’t know what messy thoughts were running through his head, but his face, usually pale, was slowly turning red.

Ruan Yao dried his body, looking at the pajamas Chu Lingyi had gotten for him. He hesitated, biting his finger.

It was supposed to be sleepwear, but it was actually a loose T-shirt and a pair of shorts so short they were barely visible.

Ruan Yao held up the new pair of shorts and questioned "This is the taste of the protagonist?"

The system, with its good temper, replied "But if you don’t wear these, you won’t have anything else to wear."

The thought of not wearing pants and facing Chu Lingyi made Ruan Yao rub the goosebumps on his arms: "Then forget it."

However, the clothes were simply too large for Ruan Yao, making him appear as though he wasn’t wearing anything at all.

The oversized neckline barely clung to his deeply set collarbones, exposing most of his shoulder, while his soft, fair skin was set against the thin fabric, bringing out a vivid and lively contrast.

The shorts were especially short, and with the clothes hanging down, only the straight, slender lines of his long legs could be seen at the hem.

Ruan Yao pushed open the bathroom door, hesitantly walking out barefoot.

Chu Lingyi hadn’t prepared any indoor slippers for him, so Ruan Yao stepped directly onto the cold marble floor, curling his pink white toes in discomfort.

Every part of Ruan Yao’s body was beautifully sculpted, even his feet made people feel an inexplicable yearning.

The damp, dark hair stuck limply to his porcelain-like neck, with droplets of water forming at the ends and dripping down, following the wide neckline all the way inside.

The white, soft T-shirt Chu Lingyi had picked for him was very thin, and after getting wet, Chu Lingyi could vaguely see the white jade-colored skin on his chest and two tempting shades of cherry pink.

Chu Lingyi’s gaze froze suddenly.

He turned back around, as if he suddenly found the new anime on his computer to be of great interest, his eyes fixed on the screen, his voice hoarse as he said "The other bed hasn’t been made and is covered in dust. You should sleep on my bed."

Ruan Yao glanced at the other bed, which was obviously very clean.

Chu Lingyi, noticing his disapproving look, calmly tossed a few miscellaneous items onto it "Now it’s dirty"

Ruan Yao: "…"

Fine, you're the host, everything you do is right.

Chu Lingyi seemed like the type to sleep very orderly and neatly. Ruan Yao, however, was worried about his own poor sleeping posture as he used someone else's bed.

Lately, due to not sleeping well, Ruan Yao would wake up the next day with his limbs tangled around Lin Xuan, his posture extremely awkward and ungraceful.

If Chu Lingyi found out about his terrible sleeping posture, he would definitely be mocked ruthlessly.

He hid beneath the blanket, leaving only a small portion of his face exposed, watching Chu Lingyi’s serene side profile as he read seriously under the light, and wondered, what excuse could he make if he unknowingly ended up hugging this cold, distant guy in his sleep?

"Your character is that of a bully. Bad people don’t need a reason to act" the system floated around, encouraging Ruan Yao to be bold.

It was only then that Ruan Yao realized. Yes, he was the one everyone feared, the bad guy. There was no reason to be afraid of a seemingly obedient, well-behaved person like Chu Lingyi.

The more Ruan Yao thought about it, the more it made sense. He had already been exhausted the entire day, his mood swinging up and down like a rollercoaster, filled with panic. When the last shred of concern melted away, a wave of drowsiness rushed over him. His long eyelashes lazily fluttered once, and then they finally settled, heavy, resting on his eyelids.

Chu Lingyi's breathing was very light.

Ruan Yao’s eyes were almost too heavy to open, but Chu Lingyi’s gaze remained clear as he silently flipped the page of his book.

Ruan Yao looked much more obedient when he was sleepy than when he was awake. His soft, fluffy bangs hung over his forehead, making people want to reach out and stroke them.

"Ruan Yao." Chu Lingyi held the flat pages of the book, his tone carrying a hesitation he wasn’t even aware of.

Since his mother’s death, he hadn’t felt such wavering emotions. He had always known that his future was to seize control of the Ruan family’s power and take revenge on those who had once humiliated them.

He wanted to make Ruan Zhengxuan, the scoundrel who abandoned his wife and child, taste the bitter flavor of a fallen family.

But Ruan Yao... Ruan Yao was different.

"Ruan Yao, do... do you hate me?"

Ruan Yao, so drowsy he couldn’t distinguish his surroundings, thought it was Chu Lingyi speaking to him in a dream. The boy's eyes were half-closed, his pale pupils unable to focus.

"I don’t know."

Ruan Yao’s voice was muffled beneath the blanket. Chu Lingyi’s blanket had a faint, pleasant floral scent, one that Ruan Yao really liked.

He held onto the corner of the blanket and mumbled "If you weren’t Chu Lingyi, I would definitely like you."

His words were light, almost like a murmur in a dream, tinged with a childlike, soft coquettishness.

"If you weren’t his child..."

Chu Lingyi felt a tingling, burning sensation in his shoulder from an old wound, as though he had returned to the time when the Ruan family was searching for him, trying to drive him to despair.

He brushed through Ruan Yao’s black hair, but Ruan Yao, carefree and oblivious, had already fallen into a deep sleep.

Chu Lingyi’s hand hovered over Ruan Yao’s soft, red lips, feeling the tender flesh being gently pressed under his fingertips.

"Ruan Yao, stay by my side."

Ruan Yao frowned slightly, as if uncomfortable. He grabbed Chu Lingyi’s mischievous hand and sulkily covered his head with the blanket.

Chu Lingyi chuckled lightly.

He thought back to when he first met Ruan Yao.

Ruan Yao might have even forgotten by now.

At that time, Mrs. Ruan had just passed away, and Chu Lingyi had come with his mother to pay his respects at the mourning hall.

Ruan Yao, still very small, had been dressed in a white nightgown. He believed the Taoist priest’s advice that dressing as a girl could bring peace to one’s body, so his hair, long like seaweed, hung down to his waist. Without warning, he emerged from the dark red wooden staircase like a delicate and beautiful little ghost.

Chu Lingyi, standing in the hall, had to tilt his head back to look at him. He didn’t remember Ruan family having any girls.

"Are you a child of this family?"

The child, with his red, teary eyes, hesitated for a moment, biting his lip before nodding quietly.

He had been born with an exceptional appearance, like an expensive doll displayed in a shop window, making Chu Lingyi, who could only look up at him from the hall, feel as though even if he stretched out his hand, he could never reach him.

"Who are you?" The child, barefoot and stepping on the redwood floor, curled his snow-white feet slightly from the cold.

His voice was soft, more like a little girl’s.

Chu Lingyi, momentarily nervous, stammered after thinking for a long while "Call me gege'"

By age, he really was.

The child, holding onto the railing, showed a hint of confused cuteness in his eyes. But he was so obedient, nodding seriously before speaking in a milky voice "Hello, gege I’m Ruan Yao."

From then on, those words became a nightmare that would haunt Chu Lingyi for the rest of his life.
