Every Day the Villain Continues to Fail
[Quick Transmigration]

At night, Ruan Yao stood in front of the full-length mirror in his room, his voice hesitant and soft as he murmured, "System, do I really have to wear this?"
Even though he was used to his strange personas, this level of shamelessness still felt a bit... over the top.
He shuffled in his plush, deer-head slippers, his white, jade-like heels tinged with a faint pink hue.
With trembling fingers, Ruan Yao pulled at the loose robe, trying to cover up the mysterious and enticing view within. The long hem of the robe revealed two slender, straight legs, and his seaweed-like curls were tied back clumsily with a hairband.
Even the loose strands of hair framing his face seemed to exude an ambiguous allure.
The system’s screen flashed a pixelated cheering emoji:
“Based on big data analysis, this is the outfit with the highest success rate. For the sake of completing the mission, there's no other choice, Master Host! Good luck!”
“For the sake of your pudding! Be brave!”
Ruan Yao looked utterly disheartened, his gaze dropping with a pitiful expression. “I feel like I might die. If Gu Rongming finds out I'm a man, do you think he'll kill me on the spot?”
The system affectionately patted the fuzzy image of Ruan Yao’s consciousness with its tiny mechanical hand, its tone bright and optimistic: “Don’t worry, Master Host. If it doesn't work, we can just restart!”
Ruan Yao: ...That’s even scarier. Thanks.
Following the mental map provided by the system, Ruan Yao walked to Gu Rongming’s door. Tonight was the last deadline for the side mission. If he failed, not only would he lose the evaluation, but he’d also face punishment!
Thinking of the bizarre punishments listed, Ruan Yao shivered.
Taking a deep breath, he lightly knocked on Gu Rongming’s door.
From inside, a cool voice responded quickly, “Come in.”
The door wasn’t locked, and Ruan Yao pushed it open hesitantly.
Gu Rongming had just finished bathing. He was draped in a thin robe, seated in his wheelchair, idly flipping through a foreign book. His black hair fell loosely behind him, making his pale, cold complexion even more striking, as if he were a lifeless porcelain doll.
When he saw that it was Ruan Yao, he was momentarily surprised before his face resumed its usual warm but distant expression. “Sister-in-law, what brings you here so late?”
Ruan Yao forced himself into the right emotional state. His soft pink lips quivered slightly, and his long, thick lashes fluttered like butterfly wings, looking fragile and pitiable. “Uncel, I…”
Gu Rongming turned a page in his book, his expression darkening subtly.
He wasn’t unfamiliar with people throwing themselves at him. As the esteemed Second Master Gu, he was often surrounded by flocks of admirers—until he ordered, “Anyone who comes near will be killed” which finally deterred them.
When Ruan Yao pushed the door open, Gu Rongming immediately guessed the purpose of her visit.
After all, with Gu Rongzhang dead, Ruan Yao, who had only recently married into the family, had become a vulnerable outsider, eyed greedily by many. Without the means to protect himself, she would soon be devoured by those lecherous men.
If she wanted to survive, finding a new protector was the most logical move.
Gu Rongming felt his mood inexplicably lighten.
Ruan Yao’s beauty was truly captivating, needing no embellishment. His natural allure bordered delicately between the masculine and feminine, striking a balance that neither overwhelmed nor faded into blandness. Even Gu Rongming, who prided himself on his self-control, occasionally thought the creator had been overly generous to Ruan Yao.
Ruan Yao’s light-colored eyes shimmered like precious gems under the bright light, sparkling with a starry brilliance that was impossible to ignore.
“Uncel I’m afraid to sleep alone.”
Even Ruan Yao’s voice was androgynous, the low, husky tone sending shivers down the spine.
Gu Rongming never thought his self-restraint was this weak. Just hearing Ruan Yao’s timid plea made him want to see her cry under his torment.
Ruan Yao’s seaweed-like curls cascaded down, and his teary, helpless eyes gleamed with a fragile light. “Someone installed a camera in my room.”
Gu Rongming’s expression hardened. “Who?”
Ruan Yao truly felt scared, his small face pale with panic. “I don’t know. I’m terrified”
Because Gu Rongming was seated in his wheelchair, Ruan Yao knelt on the ground and innocently placed a hand on the armrest of the wheelchair.
“That pervert might’ve planted other things in my room”
Ruan Yao bit his plump lips, the deep crimson of his bitten lips looking like tempting jelly.
“Uncel, I don’t want to sleep alone” Ruan Yao had never had to beg anyone like this for a mission. If Gu Rongming didn’t agree soon, he felt he’d lose his composure.
Gu Rongming chuckled softly.
Ruan Yao blinked.
The man’s body carried a faint herbal scent, lingering in the air when he leaned down. As Gu Rongming lowered his head, the delicate fragrance teased Ruan Yao’s senses.
Ruan Yao, who loved the scent of plants, unconsciously leaned closer.
Their faces were mere inches apart.
Suddenly snapping out of it, Ruan Yao’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment. He turned his face away awkwardly. “I’m sorry.”
The atmosphere, painstakingly built up, shattered in an instant.
Ruan Yao felt doomed, his brows furrowing in frustration.
Gu Rongming let out a light laugh, his lips curling into a broader smile. The man’s cold hand covered Ruan Yao’s warm one, the contrast of temperatures igniting a subtle tension.
“Sister-in-law, has anyone ever told you that asking for favors requires offering something in return?” Gu Rongming’s gaze was calm and indifferent, as if unmoved by the world, yet his words carried the seductive undertone of a sea witch luring a little mermaid to trade her voice—or perhaps herself.
Ruan Yao felt belittled and retorted in a fit of pique, “Of course I have something to offer.”
“Oh?” Gu Rongming was slightly surprised.
The next second, Ruan Yao, puffing up his cheeks in frustration, untied the belt of his nightgown.
The silk robe slid down in an instant, pooling around his waist. On his upper body, he wore only a black lace-trimmed bra, with a pitifully small amount of fabric.
His skin was soft like jade, as white as creamy snow, and paired with his innocent expression, this bold attire didn’t appear vulgar at all. Instead, it gave off a pure and refined air.
The black straps were so tight that they dug slightly into his fair, tender flesh.
Gu Rongming momentarily stopped breathing.
Ruan Yao tilted his sharp chin upward, unwilling to show any vulnerability or grievance. His face bore a defiant expression, as if saying, Look all you want, or don’t. I don’t care.
Gu Rongming chuckled in disbelief at this. He pinched the tender flesh of Ruan Yao’s cheek, hard enough to bring tears to his eyes. “So this is how you undress? How silly are you? Who would take off their clothes just because someone said so?”
Ruan Yao’s cheeks hurt from the pinch, and with tears welling up, he still tried to throw a tantrum. “None of your business! If you don’t want me, I’ll just find someone else!”
Gu Rongming truly couldn’t understand what went on in this person’s head.
But the thought of Ruan Yao undressing like this in front of someone else made him want to gouge out those bastards’ eyes.
Gu Rongming’s hand slid from Ruan Yao’s cheek to his delicate collarbone, and finally rested on the thin strap. His voice tightened slightly as he said, “Put your clothes back on. No kicking the blankets, and no bad sleeping posture.”
That meant he had succeeded.
Mission accomplished, and dignity intact. Hooray!
Ruan Yao’s eyes lit up, his anger forgotten in an instant. He mentally gave his system a five-star rating. Big data was truly impressive! Who would’ve thought wearing this kind of outfit could work so well for seduction, while still preserving his fragile dignity?
Lesson learned.
“But, dear Host,” the system interjected “didn’t the mission say you needed to get into Gu Rongming’s bed to complete it?”
Ruan Yao looked serious. “Isn’t this it? We’re sleeping together, aren’t we? What else do you want?”
Somehow, he always became exceptionally clever when it came to finding loopholes in mission rules.
The system thought about it and agreed. “Truly admirable, Host!”
Gu Rongming reprimanded him, “In the future, you’re not allowed to take your clothes off in front of others. Got it?”
Ruan Yao nodded obediently and defended himself, “But I’ve only ever done it in front of you!”
A strange smile tugged at the corners of Gu Rongming’s lips.
“No one else but me.”
“And…” Gu Rongming’s gaze swept over Ruan Yao’s snowy white chest. “You…” He hesitated for a moment and ultimately swallowed the comment “you’re pretty flat.”
Ruan Yao blinked his wide eyes.
Gu Rongming shook his head. “Never mind.”
I hate people who don’t finish their sentences, Ruan Yao thought angrily, crossing his arms in a huff.

Midnight ramblings: If Yao and Gu Rongming made it to home base, wouldn’t Yao have to do all the work himself? That’d be exhausting.
