Every Day the Villain Continues to Fail
[Quick Transmigration]

The main residence of the Gu family had an enormous garden designed like a labyrinth.
Ruan Yao essentially enjoyed plants, and with nothing to do while idling in the vast Gu family estate, he treated himself like a little mushroom, peacefully taking root in the garden.
The servants of the Gu family, who had previously been tormented by the tyrannical and unreasonable "madam" were initially on edge when they saw Ruan Yao silently crouching before a cluster of roses.
They nervously speculated about what kind of trouble she might cause this time.
The gardener, a young man with tanned skin, stood at a distance holding a water hose, looking visibly tense and even trembling slightly.
Ruan Yao had swapped his usual attire for a more practical outfit: long trousers and a shirt, topped with a wide-brimmed sunhat.
Under the inexplicably enthusiastic recommendation of his system, he also added a long pearl necklace that dangled down to his chest, making him look like a glamorous flapper from the indulgent 1920s.
Ruan Yao grew increasingly suspicious that his system had some issues.
But the system vehemently denied it, claiming that its activities like opening certain gaming interfaces, were entirely to help build a persona for the host and not for mere amusement.
Ruan Yao cupped his face and stared intently at the wine-red roses. Dewdrops sparkled on the delicate petals, freshly watered.
With an envious expression, he said to the system, “I used to grow in the wild, you know. Nobody ever watered or de-bugged me every day.”
"Now, isn't there someone here?" The tall man cast a shadow from above, his deep and elegant tone tinged with a hint of suppressed laughter.
Startled, Ruan Yao looked up, his head resting on his palm.
A soft amber glow reflected in his picturesque eyes.
Even the long eyelashes, brushed with golden sunlight, appeared fluffy and inviting, as though they were begging to be touched.
The man towering over him had the debonair features of a mixed-race male model but wore a stern police uniform that made him look as serious as could be.
“Officer Yu…” Ruan Yao’s expression betrayed a trace of surprise. “What brings you here?”
Yu Chuan smiled warmly, like a spring breeze. “I found some leads and came to question someone again”
He extended a hand to help Ruan Yao up. “But what is the madam doing in the garden?” Compared to the man’s large hand, Ruan Yao’s appeared small and delicate, soft as it rested in his grasp.
Ruan Yao had been squatting for so long that his legs had gone numb. When he abruptly stood up, he lost his balance and almost fell.
Though the rose bushes were beautiful, their thorns were sharp and plentiful. A fall into them would surely leave Ruan Yao riddled with scratches.
Startled, Ruan Yao instinctively reached out for support, while Yu Chuan, quick-eyed and swift, caught his slender waist.
Ruan Yao’s hand landed on the man’s firm chest.
The black hair flowing in the breeze created a beautiful arc, while the cool, slender fingertips rested delicately, almost flirtatiously, against the chest of a man he had only met once before.
Ruan Yao stared wide-eyed, stunned.
Like a startled fawn.
The man’s broad, warm hand subtly slid down Ruan Yao’s slender waist before gentlemanly stepping back once Ruan Yao had steadied himself. “Please be more careful, madam.”
Ruan Yao coughed awkwardly. “Thank you”
His pale neck, visible through the wide neckline of his outfit, flushed red with embarrassment.
Not wanting anyone to notice his discomfort, Ruan Yao hurriedly urged, “I was just here to admire the garden. Weren’t you looking for Second Master and Gu Jin? You should go to them quickly.”
Yu Chuan, intentionally teasing him, lingered instead of leaving. “How does the madam know I’m here for them?”
Ruan Yao pursed his lips, feeling like everyone in this household underestimated his intelligence. “The Gu family is run by those two now. If you’re not here for them, are you here for me?”
Yu Chuan’s eyes curved with amusement. “The madam is so clever”
Ruan Yao’s mood lifted slightly at the praise, though he maintained his aloof and proud facade, letting out a small “hmph” from his nose. “Well, I’m just alright”
Yu Chuan asked, “Does the madam like flowers?”
Ruan Yao blinked. “Of course. Every plant has a life of its own”
Yu Chuan’s roguishly handsome face held a devastating charm. With his high brow bones, deep-set eyes, and thick lashes, he created the illusion of gazing at someone with deep affection.
As though his entire world was filled with nothing but them.
“In that case, does the madam like this?” With a quick flick of his wide palm, a delicate rose appeared as if by magic.
Ruan Yao’s expression turned to one of pure astonishment, even forgetting to blink.
Yu Chuan chuckled softly and tucked the rose into Ruan Yao’s hair. The vivid red flower against his dark hair and pale skin made him even more breathtaking, like a spring blossom.
“Until next time, madam” Yu Chuan gently held Ruan Yao’s hand and placed a light kiss on the back of it.
As Ruan Yao watched the man’s retreating figure, he removed his hat along with the rose, his face filled with confusion. “System, was that magic?”
The system explained, “That’s sleight of hand! It’s completely different from magic!”
Ruan Yao was intrigued. “But I couldn’t see any flaws at all. Humans are amazing”
At the entrance of the rose garden, the young gardener watched in a daze as the infamous tyrannical madam removed the wide-brimmed sunhat that had concealed her face.
She was stunning.
For a moment, his mind went blank.
In his twenty-something years of life, he had never seen someone so beautiful. Even the roses seemed to pale in comparison to her.
Water spilled from his hose, drenching his feet, but the gardener remained oblivious.
It felt as though his very soul had been stolen in that instant.
“If you overwater the flowers, they’ll wither” the androgynous voice, tinged with a floral fragrance, drifted into his ears.
Before he realized it, Ruan Yao was already standing beside him.
Startled out of his trance by the voice, the gardener fumbled to turn off the hose, his face flushing crimson. “I’m so sorry, madam!”
A drop of cold sweat slid down his forehead. How could he let himself forget, even for a moment, that this woman was infamous for her violent temper?
Ruan Yao, however, didn’t think much of it and casually reminded him, flashing a good-natured smile. “The flowers you’re taking care of are beautiful”
The gardener gave an awkward “Ah” as two faint blushes surfaced on his dark skin.
He stood frozen, unsure of where to place his hands or feet, as he watched the delicate figure of the madam under the scorching sun, seemingly ready to melt at any moment. For a moment, he thought to himself: Perhaps she isn’t as bad as people say.
“Second Master, Officer Yu Chuan has come to see you” Qi Ren said softly as he approached Gu Rongming.
Gu Rongming was seated by the floor-to-ceiling window in his study, his indifferent gaze fixed on the garden below.
Qi Ren followed his line of sight but saw nothing of note except for a recently watered rose bed.
It seemed like Gu Rongming was lost in thoughta rare occurrence.
Gu Rongming spent nearly every waking moment scheming tirelessly over the Gu family estate. Qi Ren had never seen him in such a state before.
“Second Master” Qi Ren prompted again.
Gu Rongming’s long eyelashes fluttered slightly as he came back to his senses.
“Yu Chuan?” He let out a cold chuckle, though his gaze remained on the flowerbed. “Let him in.”
“It’s been a long time, Second Master Gu” said the man as he strode into the study, his handsome features rendered even sharper under the bright sunlight pouring into the room.
Gu Rongming, seated in his wheelchair, glared at Yu Chuan coldly from across the desk. “Officer Yu, you’ve been quite diligent with your visits lately”
Yu Chuan clicked his tongue. “The force has uncovered some new clues about a murder case. If you’re not interested in hearing them, I can always go talk to your older brother instead.
“I hear he’s been building quite a successful company in Yun City, competing fiercely with the family business”
In families like the Gu’s, where power was everything, a single life was just a necessary sacrifice on the ladder to the top.
Only power could stir the nerves of these cold-blooded creatures.
Gu Rongming narrowed his eyes slightly. With his deep-colored irises and sharp, fox-like gaze, his expression turned even more inscrutable. “Qi Ren, prepare a seat for Officer Yu.”
Ruan Yao walked through the hallway, clutching a bouquet of flowers in his arms.
It had been given to him by the young gardener.
After standing dumbfounded in the garden for what felt like half a day, the gardener had mustered up the courage to do the bravest thing he had ever done. He chased after Ruan Yao and presented him with a carefully tended bouquet.
Under Ruan Yao’s slightly surprised gaze, the young man stammered nervously, “I noticed… you seem to like…”
His nerves got the better of him, and he couldn’t finish the sentence. He was terrified that Ruan Yao might refuse.
But Ruan Yao accepted the bouquet, smiling as he said, “Thank you.”
At that moment, the gardener felt like he could never love another woman for the rest of his life.
This family, long rotted by power and lust, possessed the most luxurious garden in Yun City, yet no one genuinely loved the flowers.
She was truly one of a kind.
Inwardly, Ruan Yao spoke to the system: “Didn’t you say the servants were all afraid of me? They seem pretty nice to me, they even gave me flowers.”
The system deliberated for a moment before offering a reasonable explanation: “Maybe they’re hoping that by giving you gifts, you won’t find an excuse to make things difficult for them. After all, your character profile is that of a despicable master who fires servants at the slightest provocation.”
“That makes sense.”
Ruan Yao scratched at a small mosquito bite on his cheek. “But I won’t do that anymore.”
The hallway leading to Ruan Yao’s room was dim and long, lined with antique wall lamps that cast faint light, making the unlit corners even more eerie.
Feeling a bit scared, Ruan Yao quickened his pace.
A gust of cool wind blew out of an empty room, raising goosebumps on the back of his neck.
From within the shadows of the room, the sound of rustling fabric echoed faintly.
Ruan Yao froze, turning his head stiffly.
The wooden door creaked as it was blown open, slamming against the wall. A faint whispering sound emerged from the darkness.
This was Gu Rongzhang’s study, the place where he had died.
The door, long locked, had suddenly opened without warning.
