Chapter 19 GAT

My Days as a God in Ancient Times

Chu Qiuze did not refuse his older brother this time. If those doctors were not capable enough, then his brother would have to step in.

Upon arriving at the Yuhou County government office, the group was fully prepared and ready to depart.

"Good morning, everyone!" Chu Qiuze greeted warmly. "I really appreciate you all coming along with me this time. I promise to make sure everyone returns home safely"

Although he could not guarantee curing everyone, he could at least ensure the safety of these soldiers.

He purchased several hundred Strengthening Pills from the system marketplace.

Each pill cost only one hundred gratitude points, which was cheap, yet it could enhance physical strength, boost immunity, and significantly reduce the risk of infection.

At the very worst, if someone was extremely unlucky and still got infected, he would prioritize their treatment.

The soldiers' lives had to be protected first; only then could they, in turn, safeguard the lives and property of the people.

"Your Highness, these are Strengthening Pills." Chu Qiuze handed the pills to Lan An. "This will help put everyone at ease since we are heading into an epidemic zone."

Lan An was aware of the pills' effects, having seen them before on the mountain. Later, he had asked those who took them, and they all said they felt significantly better and much less fatigued afterward.

The pills were distributed, greatly boosting everyone's confidence, and Chu Qiuze received a wave of gratitude points in return.

Less than a hundred people set out together this time, while the remaining soldiers were dispatched to various towns to deliver messages and assist in sealing off cities.

"Wait a moment." Chen Couzhi, who had been absent all morning, suddenly rushed over. "Your Highness, while organizing the former county magistrate’s bedroom, we discovered a secret chamber."

Oh? A corrupt official with a hidden room—nothing unusual about that.

Chen Couzhi continued, "There was no gold or silver inside, only two stones. They look like raw jadeite, but I don’t know what to do with them."

Lan An was indifferent. To him, jadeite was worthless and had no real use.

"Young Master Chu," Lan An glanced at Chu Qiuze, noticing his apparent interest. "If you like them, you may take them."

Chu Qiuze was pleasantly surprised. "Really?"

He was not particularly interested in jade himself, but his parents certainly were.

People, as they got older, always developed some peculiar hobbies.

Just two months ago, his parents had traveled to Myanmar to buy rough stones, gambling on jade.

Regardless of whether the stones produced high-quality jade or not, they had all been carved into various sizes of Bodhisattva and Buddha statues and sent to temples.

Chu Qiuze did not fully understand this, but he had no objections to his parents cultivating hobbies.

After all, they were wealthy, there was no need to worry about them squandering their fortune.

Before departure, Chu Qiuze made a quick trip home, took the two raw stones with him, and called his older brother to have the jade delivered to their parents.

"Come on, ride with me," Chu Qiuze insisted, pulling Lan An onto his flying carriage. "We need to discuss the next steps. I’ve done some research, take a look and see if it’s useful."

Lan An did not refuse this time. He knew that Chu Qiuze must have better solutions than they did.

"Check this first." Chu Qiuze handed over the documents. "This contains information on epidemic prevention. See if you can integrate it with your traditional methods."

Lan An nodded, taking the papers and reading them carefully. Occasionally, he raised questions, and Chu Qiuze answered each one seriously.

Riding alongside them on horseback, Lu Ziye watched the two whispering to each other, their heads nearly touching, and felt quite pleased.

It seemed that His Highness was not entirely oblivious to matters of affection. At the very least, Lu Ziye had never seen him speak so warmly to anyone before.

After traveling the entire day with only one brief break, they finally found an abandoned temple to rest at around the Hour of the Boar (9 PM–11 PM).

Having spent the whole day in the flying carriage, Chu Qiuze was feeling a bit dizzy and exhausted. He had barely taken a moment to rest or eat the entire day.

After all, being surrounded by so many soldiers, he had little regard for his rank, so it felt inappropriate to eat alone with just Lan An and the others.

At this moment, seeing the group of brothers all munching on dry, hard flatbreads, he couldn't help but feel a little guilty.

He thought for a moment, then found a takeaway store and bought several large boxes of instant noodles.

Originally, he had intended to browse for other things, but he ended up finding his spiritual sustenance.

During his years studying abroad, he had relied on this very thing to keep going: the legendary luosifen.

Normally, his family forbade him from eating it, but now there was a chance to sneak a bite!

In a great mood, he called out "Brothers, light the fire, I'll treat you all to some noodles later"

The soldier brothers looked at each other, not knowing much about the god they were following. They had only encountered him briefly, mostly just the pill before departure.

As a result, they didn’t know where the noodles had come from.

The team had previously acted entirely on blind trust. Thinking about it, sending tens of thousands of pounds of grain was no big deal, so sending a little noodles to everyone was nothing.

With a wave of his hand, he ordered the preparation to begin.

While traveling, everything needed for meals was of course brought along, and the pot was set up quickly.

The delivery was also exceptionally fast today, with the rider calling in advance to notify them that the delivery had arrived before the expected time.

"Just toss it over the wall from the outside," Chu Qiuzhe answered the phone with some helplessness.

Opening the door felt like stepping directly into ancient times.

The previous deliveries had been through underground channels.

There was no other choice... sigh...

At first, he had been suspicious that the system might be afraid of him running away, but after spending some time together, their relationship had developed well.

Still, he couldn't understand why opening the door led directly to ancient times.

"I can't help it" Xiao En explained. "When you first crossed over, you went through the main door. Wherever you crossed, that's where your door is."

Chu Qiuzhe caught the point, "Wasn't it you who made me cross?"

"Not really," Xiao En replied. "Crossing is based on personal chance. My job is to find people like you who have crossed, and while helping each other, I also make sure you can cross whenever you need to."

Chu Qiuzhe roughly understood—it was the crossing that came first, and the system helped him with subsequent crossings.

Xiao En added, "That crossing door of yours can actually be changed, but the conditions are a bit complicated, so I didn’t mention it."

"What conditions?" Chu Qiuzhe asked, curious.

"Permanent binding, until this time and space no longer needs you," Xiao En said. "Then, you can cross anywhere."

Chu Qiuzhe fell into deep thought. Permanent binding was no joke.

After a moment, he softly murmured, "I'll think about it later."

Carrying several large boxes of instant noodles, he returned to the broken temple.

Lu Ziye was beyond excited, "God, where are the noodles you mentioned? Will this be enough for all of us?"

"Plenty" Chu Qiuzhe said, opening the noodles he bought, which were in bags. "Just throw them in the water to cook, don’t forget to put the seasoning packet in."

Lu Ziye hurried to direct his men to prepare.

Lan An picked up a packet of instant noodles and seemed deep in thought. The dough was light, and it came with a seasoning packet. If this was brought on a march or into battle, it would certainly be much more convenient.

"Prince, come here," Chu Qiuzhe called to Lan An. "We’re eating this. It looks similar to that one, but it's different. I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised."

Lan An, perhaps already used to special treatment at Chu Qiuzhe's place, didn’t say anything in response.

Soon, the smell of the instant noodles spread among the soldiers.

Anyone who has eaten instant noodles knows the scent—it’s simply irresistible, enough to make one’s mouth water.

The soldiers, who had never experienced such a flavor, held their bowls, swallowing saliva, their eyes fixed eagerly on the noodles.

Lu Ziye was also eagerly waiting, curious about this celestial food. He stretched his neck and inhaled deeply.

"Cough cough cough" Lu Ziye suddenly choked on a foul smell, "What’s that smell? Who’s been relieving themselves everywhere?"

It wasn’t long before everyone noticed the strange odor.

The sourness was truly unparalleled.

A soldier glanced toward the "god," "General, it seems the smell is coming from over there."

What? Lu Ziye was shocked. He knew the goddess had trouble moving, but could it be that he had soiled himself?

What should he do?

He hesitated for a long while before pinching his nose and walking over. "Goddess, what happened? Do you need help?"

Chu Qiuzhe was completely absorbed in the sourness of the luosifen and hadn’t noticed anything strange happening around him.

^luosifen (a type of Chinese noodle dish with a distinctive sour flavor)

"It’s fine. You came at just the right time. Would you like to try some of this?" he warmly invited.

Lu Ziye saw his nonchalant expression and felt that there was nothing wrong. As he took two more steps forward, the sourness became even more intense.

Looking at the small pot in front of him, the smell was clearly coming from there.

"Goddess," Lu Ziye said, his expression strange, "Are you cooking... feces?"

Chu Qiuzhe: "..."

Lan An sitting beside Chu Qiuzhe had already smelled the strange odor, but when he thought of the durian he had eaten at Chu Qiuzhe's house, which also had a peculiar smell, but the taste was exceptionally good, he didn't say anything and held his breath, waiting to eat.

Now, hearing Lu Ziye's words, his expression gradually became strange.

The durian they ate last time had a strange smell mixed with a hint of sweetness, but this snail rice noodle smelled sour and stinky.

Saying it was like cooking poop didn’t seem to be an exaggeration.

Chu Qiuzhe rolled his eyes: "It smells bad, but it tastes good, do you understand? You’ll know once you try it."

Lu Ziye stepped back, one side was noodles with a fragrance that reached ten miles, the other was a bowl of smelly noodles.

He thought that though he wasn’t very smart, he still had a brain, so he decisively embraced the instant noodles.

Thus, within this dilapidated temple, two extreme collisions formed.

"Which one do you want to eat?" Chu Qiuzhe wasn't sure if Lan An would eat the snail rice noodles.

After all, even in modern times, many people can’t accept it.

Lan An felt conflicted inside, but appeared calm on the surface, "Let me try."

"Pfft~!" Chu Qiuzhe laughed when he saw his conflicted expression and teased: "Xiao Gege, really no need to force yourself, you can eat whatever you want."

The originally uncertain heart of Lan An was fixed by the three light words 'Xiao Gege.'

"Flirtatious!" After saying that, he had no intention of leaving.

Chu Qiuzhe was amused again. Words like ‘flirtatious,’ ‘absurd,’ and ‘shameless,’ he was used to hearing.

"How is calling someone 'Xiao Gege' flirtatious? Where we come from, any young, handsome guy can be called 'Xiao Gege'"

Lan An stared at Chu Qiuzhe: "Do you know, if I had married and had children at the proper age, I could be a grandfather by now."

"Pfft~ cough cough cough, hahahahaha... A thirty-year-old grandfather?" In modern times, there were plenty of people who didn’t get married at thirty, and Chu Qiuzhe couldn’t stop laughing.

But after thinking about it carefully, people in ancient times could marry at fourteen or fifteen. Now that Lan An was thirty, it was normal for him to be a grandfather.
