Chapter 70

Every Day the Villain Continues to Fail

[Quick Transmigration]

o0o

This place felt lifeless.

When Jiang Ze stepped into the Ning family’s villa for the first time, that was the odd thought that popped into his mind.

It was like a spider’s nest draped in lavish silk, its gaping black doors concealing countless hidden traps, waiting for prey to walk in on its own.

The withered and sharp-eyed butler drooped his triangular eyes, wrinkled like an orange peel, and stared emotionlessly at the man before him.

"The master is still working in the study. Please make yourself comfortable" Without another word, the butler turned and left, leaving Jiang Ze alone in this vast and shadowy house.

Just then, light piano music drifted in through the window, carried by the wind.

The lively, elegant melody clashed starkly with the tomb-like atmosphere of the villa.

Curious, Jiang Ze followed the sound up the spiral mahogany staircase.

On the sunlit second floor, there was a grand music room. Its gilded floral-patterned doors stood open, and sheer ivory curtains billowed in the breeze.

A black-haired boy sat at the piano, his slender fingers fluttering over the black and white keys like butterflies. Sunlight poured over his long lashes, painting them gold.

Their first meeting happened on a bright and sunlit day.

"Alright! Cut!"

"That’s a wrap for this scene in 'City Without Love.'"

Yan Hui clapped his hands in satisfaction. The once-quiet room instantly buzzed with activity as three or four assistants rushed forward to touch up Xie Tong’s makeup and wipe away his sweat.

Xie Tong always slipped out of character quickly. The moment the director called “cut” his warm and refined expression vanished.

With a frown, he snatched the small electric fan from an assistant and turned his gaze toward the beautiful boy sitting by the piano.

The company hadn’t assigned Ruan Yao a personal assistant. He simply sat quietly at the piano, watching the crew bustle around without a word. No one spoke to him, and he didn’t try to interrupt.

He just sat there, watching Yan Hui and the screenwriter passionately discuss the scene as if he found it fascinating. His eyes curved into crescents, and dimples appeared on his cheeks.

He looked a little silly.

Amusing himself without even trying.

Xie Tong absolutely refused to admit that something strange, something like sympathy had stirred inside him.

I just can’t stand seeing him all alone. No way should my co-star be left out like this.

Xie Tong mentally repeated this to himself, forcing his expression into indifference as he turned to an assistant. "Go get a bottle of wat..." Before he could finish, that expressionless manager he’d nicknamed 'corpse face' hurried over to hand Ruan Yao a drink.

Xie Tong froze for a moment. The assistant beside him waited expectantly for his next words, but instead, he abruptly changed direction. "Get me a bottle of water"

The assistant glanced at the half-full bottle already in his hand, hesitating.

Xie Tong’s irritation flared. "What? I can’t want a fresh one?"

Over by the piano, Ruan Yao was speaking with Yang Fei. His face tilted up in concentration, amber eyes gleaming like molten gold under the sunlight.

Even his dark lashes seemed dusted with gold.

To match Ruan Yao’s height, Yang Fei bent slightly, making them appear unusually close.

What kind of conversation needed them to be that close?

Xie Tong’s mind flashed back to their costume fitting, when Ruan Yao had pulled him into an embrace. The lingering scent, the warmth of his breath, it had resurfaced in his scattered, ambiguous dreams.

The more he thought about it, the more annoyed he became.

Does he get this close to everyone?

Hiding behind his small fan, Xie Tong narrowed his eyes and glared at the oblivious Ruan Yao.

Yang Fei had just returned from taking a call with Sheng Yirong. He had walked back in a hurry, a slight sheen of sweat forming on his forehead.

He handed Ruan Yao a cold bottle of water, then used a portable fan to cool him down.

Ruan Yao studied Yang Fei’s forehead curiously. Yang Fei shifted his gaze away, slightly uncomfortable. "What?"

Ruan Yao stared, as if seeing something unusual: "So you sweat too" He had thought he was really a robot.

Yang Fei: "..."

Even though it was early autumn, the film base here was still unbearably hot. During the day, the temperature reached over thirty degrees Celsius. Just filming a short scene was enough to make one’s head spin from the heat.

The rented villa didn’t have air conditioning, so they had to bring in some workers to place ice blocks to cool the room down.

Ruan Yao seemed to have a naturally heat-sensitive body, but it wasn’t to the point of sweating buckets. Instead, his fair skin was tinged with a delicate pink that made one’s mouth water.

Yang Fei forcefully suppressed the strange urge in his chest, keeping his gaze on his captivating eyes.

"President Sheng said he’ll come to see you this afternoon"

Ruan Yao, who had been sipping water from a bottle while listening to Yan Hui and the script supervisor discuss the next scenes, was momentarily stunned by the news.

He didn’t react at first.

When he finally came to his senses, the slender fingers holding the water bottle immediately tightened.

His long, dark eyelashes drooped in disappointment. Ruan Yao bit his red lips lightly and asked "What’s wrong, is he coming to catch me?"

Yang Fei didn’t know what expression to make. He could only respond, as usual, with a neutral look: "No, he’s just coming… to check on you"

Ruan Yao couldn’t drink from the bottle anymore. The small fan blew a lock of black hair across his face, and Yang Fei gently tucked it behind his ear.

Now, he looked even more like a delicate young woman.

Ruan Yao lowered his head in a dejected manner, refusing to meet Yang Fei’s gaze.

A deadpan face really brings bad luck.

Xie Tong, hiding behind the small fan, was secretly amused at Yang Fei’s discomfort.

But his joy didn’t last long. Yan Hui and the script supervisor had finalized everything and finally found some time to tease the seemingly sulking beauty.

Damn, here comes another one.

Xie Tong immediately stopped smiling.

"Why the long face?" The mixed-blood man gave him a seductive, deep-eyed look, resting one hand on the piano while his fingers brushed against Ruan Yao's pinkish-white fingertips, either intentionally or not.

When Ruan Yao wasn’t acting, he wasn’t very good at hiding his emotions. He pouted and said "I’m not upset"

Yan Hui had the final say in the crew. Whatever he wanted to do, no one could stop him.

Even though Yang Fei was fuming, all he could do was watch, gritting his teeth so hard that his veins popped out.

Ruan Yao felt that Yan Hui was too close to him, instinctively moving back a little.

However, he forgot that he was sitting on a piano bench. With his back empty, his body lost its balance and he fell backward.

Yan Hui reacted quickly, reaching out to pull him into his arms.

Ruan Yao, small as he was, couldn’t escape once he was in his arms, his every movement easily restrained.

Ruan Yao struggled a little, realizing that being so close to the director was really a bit too much.

But Yan Hui, holding his soft arm with a firm grip, began to entertain more inappropriate thoughts.

"Don’t move" Yan Hui’s face was serious, his tone almost saintly as he said "I just want to check if your costume is messed up"

Ruan Yao became nervous at once. He had been intimidated by Yan Hui’s professional demeanor earlier and trusted his words: "Well… go ahead, then"

Ruan Yao really didn’t move.

Yan Hui held him tightly, his thoughts wandering. In front of so many people, he wouldn’t do anything too extreme, but he figured that being close to Ruan Yao for a little longer wouldn't hurt.

Ruan Yao, completely unaware, obediently waited for the director to "check" his appearance.

In reality, such a simple look couldn’t possibly have any flaws. Anyone a bit sharper wouldn’t fall for Yan Hui’s clumsy excuse.

Meanwhile, Xie Tong’s expression darkened to the point it seemed like he could wring water from it.

Wasn’t it obvious that Yan Hui was taking advantage of him?

That idiot!

The filming schedule for the movie was tight. To ensure the actors' availability, the entire shooting period had to be kept under two months.

Especially for stars like Xie Tong, whose time was worth a fortune down to the minute.

They didn’t finish filming until nightfall, marking the end of the first day.

Ruan Yao, as the second male lead, didn’t have too many scenes. He finished around four in the afternoon.

Yang Fei, being YM’s top agent, was swamped with work and couldn’t keep an eye on him all the time.

Ruan Yao packed up his bag and headed back to the hotel.

However, before he could even leave the rented villa on set, he was caught by a certain villain.

“Don’t move, I’ve missed you, bad kid” The man pinned Ruan Yao in the stairwell, a path everyone had to pass when leaving for the day.

Ruan Yao’s voice trembled “Sheng Yirong, let go of me!”

“You’ve been running away for so many days, and yet your teeth have gotten sharper” The man’s eyes, hidden behind gold-framed glasses, were as deep as the ocean, filled with a brewing storm that left Ruan Yao’s breath unsteady.

The man seemed to find Ruan Yao’s trembling so cute that he leaned down to kiss the tip of his nose. “Don’t worry, I won’t cut your scenes this time”

He gazed at Ruan Yao’s delicate features, but only he knew how much ruthless desire was hidden beneath his calm demeanor, urging him to hurt Ruan Yao more, to make him unable to close his legs, unable to cry, so that even if he tried to escape, he could grab his ankle and prevent him from running away.

Sheng Yirong felt that his problem was getting worse lately.

Perhaps Yang Fei’s concerns were right.

If Ruan Yao stayed by his side, he couldn’t guarantee that he wouldn’t be hurt.

“I just want to kiss you” Sheng Yirong had never spoken so gently before, but Ruan Yao’s ears twitched, clearly not trusting him.

Still, he was afraid of angering Sheng Yirong and ruining the precious filming opportunity.

His amber eyes were glazed with tears, his voice soft and timid. “You can kiss wherever you want, it’s just... just...”

The antagonist was truly terrifying. Ruan Yao shivered, unable to speak clearly, his nose tipped with a faint red hue. He sobbed quietly “Don’t be too rough”

If a mark was left, it would be a disaster.

However, those words, in Sheng Yirong’s twisted mind, took on a completely different meaning.

The deep black in his eyes turned crimson, and his grip on Ruan Yao’s arm tightened.

Ruan Yao cried, speaking to the system “When will the main character fall in love with the main character’s partner?”

The system hurriedly tried to comfort the host, who was being pinned against the wall by the main character: “It’s okay, it’s okay. Once the main character (Shou) discovers that you’ve betrayed him, you’ll have some connection with the lead, and after you’re offline, their love-hate relationship will unfold”

"The host, please rest assured, we are professionals. The protagonist and the antagonist will not be able to resist the will of the world consciousness!"

Ruan Yao felt like his lips were swollen from being bitten by Sheng Yirong. The bright, slippery saliva had soaked into his plump lips, making them look like a water-red pearl resting in his mouth.

This afternoon, Xie Tong had been in a terrible mood for reasons unknown.

Especially after Ruan Yao left, he couldn’t even get through the simplest confrontation scene.

During the break, Xie Tong watched in frustration as Ruan Yao packed up his things, ready to leave for the day, and his irritation grew.

He thought to himself, I’ve been so obsessed with you, a no-name actor, and yet you show no reaction at all.

As he watched Ruan Yao about to leave, Xie Tong, for reasons he couldn’t explain, felt an impulse to chase after him.

And so, he did.

There was a small corner in the stairwell.

Standing there, Xie Tong could perfectly hide his presence.

He stood there, watching as Ruan Yao was pressed against the wall by a man, kissing him so passionately that tears were falling from Ruan Yao’s eyes.

His cheeks were flushed with heat, and his lips bloomed like a soft, delicate rose.

Xie Tong felt his whole body burning with blood, his mind consumed by the scene of Ruan Yao, lost in the kiss, and his thoughts were filled with desires he could barely suppress.

Xie Tong knew this wasn’t right, but he couldn’t control himself.

He could only curse inwardly, how could Ruan Yao have so many damn men!

In a similar situation, there was also a young male singer who had just arrived at the film set.

Pei Xinan watched with a dark gaze as Ruan Yao and Sheng Yirong entwined in a kiss, the metal rings on his fingers cutting into his palms, leaving sharp bloodstains.

But it seemed like he didn’t even feel the pain.

Perhaps from the moment he met Ruan Yao, he was destined to experience a pain a thousand times worse than this.

Ruan Yao seemed unaware that he was being watched.

The breath that stirred everyone’s heart was forced out of him by Sheng Yirong, echoing in the narrow, quiet stairwell, muffled and pitiful.

Beep, the system detected an increase of 30% in the protagonist's dislike value. The current dislike value has reached 80%.

Congratulations to the host for unlocking the achievement 'The Storm is Coming.'
