Chapter 71

Every Day the Villain Continues to Fail

[Quick Transmigration]

Sheng Yirong was not lying. A kiss was just a kiss. The problem was that even if it was just that, Ruan Yao was still kissed until his legs went weak.

The feeling of oxygen deprivation left him clinging helplessly to Sheng Yirong in the end, his entire face involuntarily tinged with the soft pink of peach blossoms as he let out a pitiful whimper like a small animal.

The man was unaware that two others were secretly watching them from the shadows.

With a motion that could almost be described as gentle, Sheng Yirong lightly wiped away the glistening moisture at the corner of Ruan Yao’s lips.

Then, right in front of him, he extended his tongue and slowly licked away that faint trace of wetness. A look of immense satisfaction immediately surfaced in his long, narrow eyes, and even his pale cheeks took on an unhealthy flush.

Ruan Yao, forced against his chest, gasped softly for air, feeling utterly perplexed. Why were humans so obsessed with consuming each other’s saliva?

Sheng Yirong’s mental state was far from normal. His arms, wrapped around Ruan Yao, were trembling ever so slightly.

He greedily inhaled the faint, tantalizing scent lingering on Ruan Yao’s neck, like a dying traveler in the desert stumbling upon a tiny oasis.

So desperate that he was willing to give up his life for a mere moment of warmth.

Ruan Yao’s sharp eyes caught sight of Sheng Yirong’s wrist peeking out from beneath his lifted suit sleeve. Jagged, crisscrossing scars marred the exposed skin.

The wounds had only recently scabbed over, tinged with the tender pink hue of fresh healing flesh.

He had always assumed that someone like Sheng Yirong is invincible, untouchable, a complete madman, would never get injured.

After all, a man who traveled with over a dozen bodyguards and was well-versed in combat seemed impossible to harm.

Instinctively, Ruan Yao wanted to ask about the scars, but before he could, voices suddenly echoed from upstairs.

Terrified, he shrank into Sheng Yirong’s embrace, curling up into a trembling, obedient little quail.

He resisted, pushing against him with all his might while desperately trying to suppress the pitiful sob in his voice. “Someone’s coming”

Sheng Yirong remained utterly unfazed as he laced their fingers together. “They wouldn’t dare”

This man always spoke with an arrogance so extreme it defied reason.

Ruan Yao’s eyes were stained with a brilliant flush of red at the corners as he revealed an expression of utter exasperation “If you want me to suffocate to death, then do as you please”

He shoved his lingering doubts to the back of his mind. A domineering madman like this clearly had no need for the concern of someone as weak as him.

His fluttering lashes drooped, his nose reddened from crying, and a single crystal-clear teardrop clung to his frost-white cheek, making him look both pitiful and unbearably adorable.

Sheng Yirong pressed an affectionate kiss to the tip of his nose before finally loosening his grip.

Yet even so, Ruan Yao remained trapped in his arms, unable to escape. “I don’t want to cage you either, but there are always filthy dogs coveting things that don’t belong to them”

His eyes narrowed slightly, and a glint of icy light flickered across his ink-black pupils. “That singer with the surname Pei…”

He deliberately paused.

Ruan Yao tensed up, his heart clenching as he stared warily into the man’s eyes, silently waiting for what would come next.

Sheng Yirong pinched Ruan Yao’s cheek, his voice soft as he murmured in his ear “There won’t be a next time, Yao Yao”

That is not necessarily the case, thought Ruan Yao.

He wondered what Pei Xinan was feeling right now. With the disgust value so high, why was the affection value still steadily holding at 100%?

This was not scientific. Ruan Yao could not understand what Pei Xinan was thinking.

According to all the melodramatic TV dramas and novels he had seen, this was how it usually played out: after discovering the villainous supporting character's infidelity, the protagonist would finally wake up to the fact that they had been deceived all along!

Was this not enough to prove that he was a greedy and vain bad person?

The sky at the film set darkened quickly. No matter how reluctant Sheng Yirong was to part with Ruan Yao, he had to let go.

Unless he wanted to wake up the next morning to headlines on every major media outlet announcing that the well-known corporate president Sheng Yirong had spent the night with his lover at a film set.

Besides, his condition was worsening, especially at night.

He feared that he might truly lose control and hurt Ruan Yao.

His possessiveness toward Ruan Yao had grown stronger and stronger, to the point where he wanted nothing more than to break his wings and imprison him forever in a golden cage.

Sheng Yirong dared not imagine what might happen if this continued to escalate.

Yet, the mere thought of someone else taking his place by Ruan Yao’s side sent his entire being into a frenzy, screaming to tear that filthy dog to pieces.

Sheng Yirong concealed the bloodthirsty gleam rising in his eyes and forced himself to put on a gentle and harmless smile. "I actually hope we could go public. That way, I could take you abroad and marry you"

Ruan Yao thought to himself that the person Sheng Yirong wanted to marry was not him.

"The mere thought of you being with someone else makes me lose control, I just want to kill them"

"Spending a lifetime with me, would that be so bad?"

Ruan Yao kept his head down, appearing somewhat distracted.

Seeing that Ruan Yao remained silent, a dark and violent impulse stirred restlessly within Sheng Yirong. He forcefully gripped Ruan Yao’s chin. "Why aren’t you speaking?"

Ruan Yao had been lost in thoughts about Pei Xinan when Sheng Yirong suddenly grabbed his face. His lips, still red and swollen from the earlier kiss, quivered, and his small face turned deathly pale in fright.

He had not even caught what Sheng Yirong had just said. His tears welled up in panic, and he could only nod frantically.

Only then did the man reward him with a feather-light kiss on the side of his cheek. "Good boy"

When Ruan Yao returned to the hotel room, he was startled by Pei Xinan squatting at the door.

He had never seen the young man in such a miserable state before. Ruan Yao looked as wretched as a stray dog with nowhere to go, and the only recognizable feature left was his eyes, as bright as cold stars.

At first, Ruan Yao thought it was some obsessive fan, cautiously hiding behind a pillar to observe for a while before realizing that it was actually Pei Xinan.

"Pei... Pei Xinan, why are you here?" Ruan Yao called out the young man's name with a trembling voice.

He had assumed that after witnessing the affair, Pei Xinan would have been so furious that he would immediately fly back home and cut ties with him.

Pei Xinan hung his head low in dejection. His unkempt wolf-cut hair stuck out messily in all directions. The numerous silver chains around his neck no longer seemed to shine, making him look just one military coat away from being a vagrant.

It wasn't until he heard Ruan Yao’s voice that he abruptly lifted his head, his eyes suddenly gleaming with light as he looked at him.

"I've been waiting for you for a long time" Pei Xinan said this while reaching out to grab Ruan Yao's wrist.

Ruan Yao felt guilty and instinctively pulled away from the young man's grasp.

Pei Xinan froze for a moment, his eyes drooping in disappointment, looking at Ruan Yao with a pitiful expression like a little puppy. "It's only been a short time, and you've already moved on"

He grabbed Ruan Yao’s hand again, this time with a serious face as he criticized his cold-hearted behavior. "Did you fall for someone else? I saw the male lead in your drama. He’s not even half as good-looking as me. If you can be into someone like that, it only proves your taste has taken a drastic nosedive"

Ruan Yao was busy dragging Pei Xinan into the room, but upon hearing this, he froze for a second. He even found himself comparing Xie Tong and Sheng Yirong's physiques in his mind before shaking his head in confusion. "No, I haven’t"

Pei Xinan raised his hand and flicked Ruan Yao’s smooth forehead. "That's more like it"

Ruan Yao felt like a complete scumbag at that moment, his cheeks burning with embarrassment. He pulled Pei Xinan to sit on the small sofa and asked him in a quiet voice "Why did you come here?"

Pei Xinan was silent for a moment before finally saying "I haven’t seen you for too long. I wanted to come and see you. I missed you a lot"

Even though they had only been apart for less than three days.

"But compared to that, a certain host who got caught kissing another man after less than three days apart is even more unreasonable"

"System, sometimes you really don’t have to be this sharp"

"Whimper"

After confirming their relationship, Pei Xinan no longer acted as cold and indifferent as he did when they first met. Instead, he now seemed like he was overflowing with a lovesick schoolgirl’s heart.

Ruan Yao shifted his gaze away awkwardly, his fingers guiltily picking at the creases on his pants. "I missed you too"

Pei Xinan’s eyes instantly lit up like a puppy that had just received a treat. He pounced on Ruan Yao, pinning him down on the sofa, his arms caging him in.

"I knew you’d miss me" Pei Xinan was ridiculously self-satisfied. "After all, in this lousy production crew of yours, could you possibly find a man more stunning than me?"

Ruan Yao felt extremely uncomfortable being pinned down beneath him. His long brows, as delicate as drifting smoke, furrowed as he raised his fist to punch him.

Pei Xinan, however, would rather be hit twice, as lightly as a kitten swatting at him, than let go.

He buried his face in the crook of Ruan Yao’s neck, where a faint fragrance lingered. Every vein in his body burned with heat, surging toward one particular spot beneath him.

Ruan Yao had been trying to push the man off, but his thigh accidentally brushed against something that immediately made him freeze.

The blush on his pearl-white cheeks deepened. With no other options left, he could only open his mouth and curse “Pervert!”

Pei Xinan’s skin had grown three inches thicker in just a single day. He nodded, fully accepting Ruan Yao’s 'compliment' "Say it again. I really am” Anyone who wouldn’t turn into a pervert around Ruan Yao would probably have to be neutered.

Someone was not holding back with the insults.

“I saw Sheng Yirong today…” Burying his face in Ruan Yao’s neck, Pei Xinan finally voiced the unease that had been pricking at him.

Ruan Yao perked up. Here we go.

This was the moment for the pathetic cannon fodder to start making flimsy excuses. That way, he would look even more guilty and detestable.

“You must be mistaken, I wasn’t with him…” Ruan Yao explained to Pei Xinan in a panicked voice “accidentally” letting something slip.

Ha, I really am a natural villain.

Ruan Yao thought triumphantly.

Yet the system notification he had been longing for never arrived.

Pei Xinan merely hummed in response and whispered by Ruan Yao’s ear “I believe you”

“Huh?”

Ruan Yao was stunned.

He chose to struggle to the bitter end. “No, I was actually will...”ing.

“It must be that old bastard Sheng Yirong threatening you with the movie” Pei Xinan had already pieced together the entire story in his mind.

“No, he didn’t..”

“I knew he wouldn’t let you go so easily”

“He did...”

Pei Xinan believed he had seen through everything. Holding the thoroughly bewildered Ruan Yao in an affectionate embrace, he spoke with absolute conviction “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure he regrets ever doing this to you!”

“Trust me, I’ll make him pay for this”

Wait a second, this wasn’t how things were supposed to go at all!

Completely unable to argue with the idiot in front of him, Ruan Yao, now utterly overwhelmed, could only whimper in grievance “Whatever, just..could you stop poking me already?”
